Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 04/10/2026yeah it was lbgg, its a FOSS project that was started after the first Elo disaster 5 years ago but its just people in their free time so progress is slow and steady. But there is a 100% no AI sentiment in the project which I am very happy about. 010
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 03/10/2026And I believe even if you use it for "mundane tasks" it should be clearly labeled, but maybe its due to my academic background. After all its not work you did and you cant copyright said code either. Thank you very much tho for asking and getting clarification. Very much appreciated <3 021
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 03/10/2026But considering FOSS projects are build on trust, that lack of transparency is what is making people iffy about it. It's like an opaque glass. Other projects that use genAI at least clearly show what is generated and what is not or in what way a specific change was affected by genAI. 120
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 03/10/2026An issue with this is that with removing what has been contributed by Claude is hidden this way so it is hard to distinguish what is written by hand and what isn't. I don't assume malice here, but it is not transparent and difficult to trust fully. I know every dev has a different stance on it. 120
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I just noticed some of this hear sounds like an LLM has written it, I think I must have consumed so much slop at this point on LinkedIn that I actually ended up conducting brainrot. Why on earth did I write so many short sentences there lol. 100
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026And please do not personally attack staff. The company decision is absolutely terrible and I find it so bad but I know the people working at SRDC and this does not warrant personal attacks. Keep being upset but dont hurt someone. Only thing I wanna add. 100
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Also small sidenote to the Github Page thing. There are different solutions, as an avid FOSS supporter and as someone who does not enjoy AI to the slightest you can also have a look at Codeberg, they also offer static git pages. If anything, hope you can all get through this mess. 220
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026And if you have the resources and capabilities, consider joining a project working on alternatives to SRDC. There are some in the works, I do know of a single one right now but perhaps this is a motivational spark to start working on alternatives to SRDC. Competition is always good! 100
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Not everyone is able to have their own website, but you can create a very simple Github Page for free as well. This should be more than sufficiant for most community ressources as well if your community cannot afford their own website otherwise. There are many guides on how to do that on Github. 110
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Backup your history locally as well. Half cooked solutions are also not the smart idea and it is also not the best idea to now start fracturing super badly. For game communities I will recommend again, have your resources available besides SRDC. And no, not on Discord either. 110
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Sorting some of my thoughts. Yes, the situation with SRDC (speedrun.com) is bad, your communities should consider moving in the long term, this has happened again now. However hastily jumping ships is also not the proper move. Take your time. Consult your communities. Keep your voice heard. 131
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Oh yeah absolutely agree on this. For me this is just absurd. 000
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026There was also this other AI clone of srdc with analytics included, dno if I want to namedrop it directly so ill describe it, same domain name but .io as a TLD instead. That is also 100% confirmed to be a target with the TOS changes. 110
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Im in the LBGG waiting room, I know the team is 100% against AI but FOSS projects in free time takes sadly an absurd amount of time to develop :( At least this has become a good motivational moment. Ill just continue using my own spreadsheet for now. 150

This is not legal advicetherun.ggLeaderboards and speedrun.com’s new terms of servicespeedrun.com replaced its terms of use on 1 October 2026 and dropped the Creative Commons licence. Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Im quite frankly very devastated that VR is so expensive now. I really wanted to get into it, both development and playing actual vr games. However I am entirely outclassed really, which makes it pretty much impossible to even try this in the first place :( 000
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 18/09/2026To top it all off, now I see AI portfolio sites and AI resumes more and more? I feel like in the time I had to undergo surgery the entire world shifted even more. I just question, if you are applying for a creative position, isn't having an AI portfolio a gigantic red flag? I'm at a loss of words. 000
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Okay I'm crashing out, literally every Godot Meetup I've been participating in the last few months now has been hijacked by vibe coders and its been derailed to nothing but AI talk, I'm just fed up. Can we please just talk about game development please? I do not want to hear about AI tool #9032347. 120
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I wish I could afford one lol. But I am also still waiting for my Steam Controller reservation :( 010
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Is programming just becoming a lost art at this point? It feels like most people stopped fully thinking on their own. Im just disappointed. "Uhh but I validate my output and adjust it afterwards." Yeah and I use salt and pepper in my instant soups. They are still instant soup, even with the spice. 161
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I was curious what gamedev people on twitch do. I am baffled on how every single one I have watched so far resorts to an LLM and that consistently. The irony was that some of the issues they had were so easy to find in documentation in a minute. They spent like 10 minutes arguing with the LLM. 140

Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Totally understandable. The question I am having, if you are a small team is it reasonable if only one person (the programmer) contributes? Also when attempting to contribute to the port, what would be the best way to get started there? Or is it only veteran contributors for now for the port? 110
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Sure, host your ethical LLM in a datacenter but the big vendors out there are anything but ethical to support financially. There are many factors that I oversimplified or put away for the sake of not blowing out out of proportion and derailing the conversation into a whole different discussion. 010
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Also, this post has been written after a long day with lots of sun exposure, if there were any mishaps or logical fallacies, I will partially blame the heat. But I also do not want to attack anyone directly, this is me sharing my feelings after this change (hence why I tried to use I statements). 020
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Maybe that was also just the community using the engine? But that then begs the question were the developers detached from the userbase? I hate the term but ofc I am also in a bubble and perhaps that bubble isnt as big as I thought and not the core audience, but it feels not that great. 130
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Im just a) baffled about the outcome and b) that it was not communicated as loud and clearly as other changes. And it is for many people a significant change. I think some might say my words were overly dramatic but it still genuinely hurt, considering Godot felt very much against AI in the past. 130
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Especially in game dev spaces AI is a controversial topic as you probably know as well and it is ringing many alarm bells. I went through numerous conversations as well now and most arguments have been brought up at this point. I agree with some but not with all and especially not with the outcome. 120
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Theoretically the only ethical use case I personally could accept would be if the LLM is trained ethically on data it is legally allowed to use and it is ran locally. I do agree it is utopic to avoid AI everywhere, yet I hope you still understand the frustrations that come with this. 260
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 27/06/2026That is true but at the same time you can also attempt to reduce the exposure and impact to it. And we would have liked to know before such a change happened. That is the most upsetting part to me. People draw lines differently. 370
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Not even publicly announcing this properly BEFORE you make such a drastic ethical change to the engine is very much upsetting and quite frankly feels like a backstab by the Godot Foundation. Please reconsider the stance on it. This has a significant impact on the Godot userbase. 1200
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 26/06/2026We cannot use the engine in good faith now in its current state and have to walk back and migrate everything back into the last known version that has no AI commits included or strip out every known AI commit ourself and compile our custom version of the engine. 2170
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 26/06/2026This was our pride as absolutely no AI was used making the game. Or at least up to this point. I have read the updates and also blogposts but I have not seen any release patchnote that specifically states that now AI PRs are being accepted or integrated in the code. 1150
Matse007 @matse007.bsky.social · 26/06/2026I honestly am very upset about the fact that you disclosed that AI PRs are accepted AFTER it happened. I worked together with many talented people in our team on a commercial game where one of our core values was to not use AI in any way or form. 1280
