At @mothersuncovered.bsky.social we’ve supported around 3000 women since 2008, helping them deal with loneliness, anxiety & isolation with peer-led groups using art and writing. Many have experienced #birthtrauma and are on long #NHS waiting lists to get the care they need.

‘How was the birth of your baby…?’ Many #mothers struggle with the answer to that question. They feel grateful to have their #baby, but the memories of the birth often keep coming back. They might be angry, or sad, or guilty or ashamed that they did something wrong, didn’t try hard enough.

I can’t help but feel like so many of us as mothers were set up for failure because of generational trauma, horrifying world events, economic hardship, and chronic toxic stress in general. We were thrown in the deep end of the pool with no floatation device. /3

At #MothersUncovered we see the marks of inadequate care in the #mothers we work with. Most have experienced birth trauma, due to an overwhelmed health service & are isolated, lonely & extremely anxious. They are the walking wounded & we all suffer because traumatised mothers = traumatised children.
