30 years ago today MULTIPLICITY was released in theaters. While it didn’t hit at the box office, it remains an underrated gem in the directorial filmography of Harold Ramis and one of Michael Keaton’s best performances ever.

You are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States this week. I’m celebrating the 35th anniversary of this classic TV treasure. We are not the same.

A theater showing Lone Star (or any Sayles) for a year straight sounds like a dream come true

The Wuzzles is so indicative of a specific micro generation because if I ask someone a year or two older or younger about it they think I’m crazy.

Oh shoot! Was it? I read Premiere all the time but I must’ve watched the movie before I got to that issue

An effectively meta moment if I’ve ever seen one.

Definitely a big part of the impact I’m sure! Connery was just such a distinct kind of movie star at that point. Dropping him into the final scene added something special that elevated King Richard’s return.

I have to imagine it got an electric response consistently. Such a spot on choice!

Matinee Mode @matineemode.bsky.social · 15/06/2026

Well I’ll admit that was a killer response

Is there anyone else who could have been King Richard in that moment & made it so impactful? Not a chance.

Whenever I want to illustrate the perfect use of a cameo appearance in film, this is exhibit A.

35 years ago today ROBIN HOOD PRINCE OF THIEVES was released in theaters. Accent or no accent, it’s the blockbuster version of Robin Hood I’ve always enjoyed the most. Alan Rickman is devouring scenery at every turn. And Michael Kamen delivers one of his most iconic scores (Hello, Morgan Creek).

The first movie I ever owned on VHS was the original E.T. video release with the green spine. I received it for Christmas in 1988. What was the first movie you owned on physical media?

Yeah, there is a deep bench of bangers in there despite its reputation as secondary to Touchstone.

Having watched every HP release a few years ago for a podcast I have to push back on the Sphinx rule a bit. There are quite a lot of really enjoyable titles in their filmography: Arachnophobia, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Joy Luck Club, Blood in Blood Out, While You Were Sleeping, etc.
