#Claude made me this: Type I and II Errors. It took minutes.

In #MathsToday, I used Claude to very quickly generate some questions with exact trig values in response to a student's question. He needed a way to practice beyond simple recall. I tweaked it a couple of times to remove supplementary angles, that is limit to 30 45 and 60, I also asked...

I added a display about #mathematics #books. It's a look into my bookshelf at home, but importantly, it encourages the students to read about #mathstoday... www.jmaths.xyz/posters/books/ There are many more out there I didn't include, so feel free to tell me your favourites, and I'll add them!

The claim of 30000 combinations in Cold Rock Ice Cream doesn't feel like a lot, does it? Anyone want to do the combinations for me?! I wonder where that comes from. 6CR is already 38760. #MathsToday

In #mathatoday I read @kityates.bsky.social and the kiddo was introduced to decimal numbers at the pool depth. He stood at what we assumed was 1.6m (another linear scale Kit)!

On LinkedIn I shared a project for our project week. Plat Diviseur. Applied mathematics at a moment of expertise, the students can measure angles and divide and therefore in year 8 they put these skills into practice (with a little about constructions too)

It's used in IB, this is a question from 2021.

Family fun. Sometimes I wonder if I am cheating the system. What about the kids who arrive at school who haven't played with mathematics very much? Do I contribute to a disparity and raising of an artificial bar? With time being squeezed at schools, how can we promote more of this home?

For graphical thinking, sometime shortly having done the quadratic discriminant I like to give a question similar to this. Determine k such that f(x) =k has 0,1,2 sols. Ignore me though if it's slightly off track, or you have something similar. This was IB exam Q inspired too

Dr Jason Murphy @mathstweetcher.bsky.social · 26/01/2025
And this, it comes on the back of similar work to yours I have for functions at IBDP.l, as we move to composiye functions. We get these tables in exam Qs (with derivatives too).

A little introduction to the ratios that have a special name in #MathsToday. Which other side lengths give the same ratio? What other ratios could we look at (link to @standupmaths.bsky.social new book, great stuff.) What's going on with the rounding here? www.geogebra.org/calculator/a...

In #MathsToday. What is the equation of this line, what do you need to know? Hidden behind this is a cubic function, derivatives for more precise function and the coordinate to be shown:

In #MathsToday I genuinely used @geogebra.org as many times as I have posted. In this example a student was interested about what differentiation was so I knocked this together live. Turns out I randomly picked a very nice function to illustrate it. New to GeoGebra? try to recreate it!

@geogebra.org It is great when you can build on others' work. I nicked this from the University of Adelaide and made the ones and zeros S for success and F for Failure to introduce BinomDist. I am hoping students will appreciate me not asking for 5 trial trees! www.geogebra.org/classic/bzt4...
