This shortcut is valid for all 6-digit numbers, with a slight caveat. To show the caveat, let's use it to find 857,853 days after Thursday: 853 - 857 = - 4 days after Thursday (🤨❓) This result should be thought of as 4 days before Thursday or Sunday. So, 857,853 days after Thursday is Sunday ✅
Six-Digit Number Calendar Shortcut

Example:

What day of the week will it be 132,135 days after Tuesday?

Shortcut:

135 [last three digits] - 132 [first three digits] = 3

3 days after Tuesday = Friday [Answer]

Now It's Your Turn!

What day of the week will it be 254,256 days after Monday?

Three Different Ways to Multiply 18 by 35: Which one do you prefer? Let me know in the comments! #MathChat #MathsChat #MathSky #MathsSky #Mathematics #Multiplication
Three different ways to show that 18 times 35 is 630:

Method 1 is the traditional algorithm involving carrying and adding.

Method 2 is rewriting 18 as 20 - 2 then applying the distributive property to get 700 - 70 = 630.

Method 3 is imagining an 18 by 35 rectangle, cutting it into two 9 by 35 rectangles, and rearranging them to a 9 by 70 rectangle which leaves the total area of 630 unchanged.

Which method did you prefer?

Would you rather memorize ten formulas or just three? Also, keep in mind that this is just for the basics of kinematics and there are even more physics topics with their own sets of formulas! #MathSky #MathsSky #MathChat #MathsChat #Mathematics #Algebra
Red Title: "Dear Students, this is why we learn algebra!"

On the left-hand side, we see the minimum of TEN kinematics formulas you'd have to memorize if you cannot rearrange equations. On the right-hand side, we see the 3 usually memorized kinematics formulas [along with a clarification that the last one can technically be derived from the previous two by solving for time in the second then substituting into the first and simplifying]. Uniform acceleration is assumed in both cases.

Know someone who is excellent at Geometry? Put their skills to the test by asking them to answer this geometry question I made! [Seems suspiciously straightforward, so solve safely!] #MathChat #MathsChat #MathSky #Mathematics #Geometry
In triangle ABC, M is the midpoint of line segment BC & line segment AM is perpendicular to line segment BC. Given that line segment AM has length 6 centimeters and line segment BC has length 7 centimeters, what is the perimeter of triangle ABC in millimeters rounded to the nearest whole number? [1 centimeter = 10 millimeters]

B) 140
C) 209
D) 210

Nice! There's even an elegant way to explain this "trick" visually. While the visual I've shown below technically only proves that the "trick" works for the 35² = 1225 case, similar visuals can indeed be made for all natural numbers ending in 5. I hope you enjoy it! #Mathematics #MathChat #MathsChat
An image showing that a 35 by 35 square can be cut into a 30 by 30 square, two 30 by 5 rectangles, and a 5 by 5 square. The first three pieces can then be rearranged to form a 30 by 40 rectangle, thus showing that 35² = 30 × 40 + 25 = 1225.

While I am not Polish, I do find it somewhat hypocritical that the STEM community doesn't even try with this chemist's Polish surname while getting so particular about pronouncing Euler's surname properly. So, this is my improvement on a popular anagram of her abbreviated name being “Radium came” :)

A Timezone Inaccuracy from 1% Club UK Due to DST, this question has TWO answers. We could also start 2025-10-25 23:00:00 UTC [midnight October 26 in London & 7 PM October 25 in New York] and add 5 hours to get 2025-10-26 04:00:00 UTC [midnight October 26 in New York, but 4 AM October 26 in London].
Question: If it's midnight in London when it's 7 PM in New York, what time is it in London when it's midnight in New York?

Answer from the show: 5 AM

Actual answer due to DST: Either 5 AM or 4 AM

An example for 4 AM: Start from October 25th 2025, 23:00 UTC and add 5 hours

As much as I hate what's going on the USA right now, I fear that spreading stuff from British satirical website NewsThump as if it were real news may be doing more harm than good. Here's a screenshot of the headline with the source listed and another screenshot from the source's About Us page

While I don't really buy into numerology, there is indeed a system for that. If you start at A = 49, B = 50, C = 51, and so on up to Z = 74 then the phrase "DONALD TRUMP" would coincidentally add up to 666. Also, the final Z = 74 happened to match his age in 2020. Do with that info what you will

The 30th term in this case would be 10891545The explicit formula for the nth term of the sequence 10, 15, 25, 40, 60, 85, 115 [the pattern: +5, +10, +15, +20, +25, and so on] starting at n = 1. A spooky calculation I thought of 🧮 1. Choose four distinct single digits. 2. Form all three-digit numbers possible using three distinct digits from those you picked 3. Divide the sum of the three-digit numbers found by the sum of the four distinct digits. You'll always get 666, but why? #MathSky
The image describes the following mathematical trick which will always give 666 as a result
Step #1: Choose four distinct digits [In the example: 2, 3, 5, and 7 were chosen]
Step #2: Form all three-digit numbers possible using three distinct digits from those you picked [There are twenty-four possible three-digit numbers that could be formed and the table shows all of them arranged in a random and unimportant order]
Step #3: Divide the sum of the three-digit numbers formed by the sum of the four digits [In the case of the example, the three-digit numbers formed added up to 11,322 which when divided by 17 (from 2 + 3 + 5 + 7) would indeed give 666 as expected]

Looked up the factors of 2581 and forgot to put "-ai", so I ended up stumbling across this wrong solution which immediately caught my attention since I knew that 31 times 51 equals 1581. Luckily, the mathematical webpages below it gave the correct factorization of 29 times 89. #MathSky #Numeracy
Google's AI Overview attempting to find the factors of 2581. It claims the factors of 2581 are 1, 31, 83, and 2581. While the method it's using is valid, the AI incorrectly states that 31 is the first prime number that divides 2581 because 2581 divided by 31 equals exactly 83. In reality, 2581 is a multiple of an earlier prime number (29) and 2581/31 = 83.2580645...
