A Dream Delivery Service Poetry Prompt

1. Drop a handful of words into a plastic bag.
2. Hold the end of the bag to your mouth. Blow into it, until the bag is full & taut.
3. Shake the bag, until all the long words shatter into short words.
4. Hold the bag again to your mouth
& inhale. Deeply. Inhale all the words.
5. Hold your breath as long as you can.
6. Until the burn of the words goes still.
7. Until the words go straight to your head.
8. Until your knees soften.
9. Until the world’s edges soften
into the sweet nothing of words.
10. Until the poem is a door to step through, & on the other side lies nothing.
