Part of me feels like Dark Souls wouldn't have caught on if the first game had difficulty settings. It'd be "cheap", "pointless", etc. Arcade games had a relatively granular difficulty option via credit feeding and it played a big part in them written off as "button mashers"/"quarter munchers".

I hit a wall on Last Judge . If there was a difficulty setting maybe I would have tweaked it, but instead I went and backtracked, found stuff I missed, and eventually came back feeling like, ‘Oh, I can actually do this now.’

Gibson: That is the ideal experience.

One thing we wanted in our game was to create intuitive but not explicit interactions. The Bomb Tower throws bombs, which are also a tool used to collect rocks. So its attacks end up gathering resources too. Opens up some fun strategic choices. What do you think? #indiegamedev #godot #towerdefense
