Materials Horizons inside back cover text reads:
Highlighting work from Prof. H. Suzuki and co-workers
at Chuo University, Japan
A platform for the formation of uniform DNA condensate droplets
using vibration-induced local vortices
We introduce a novel microfluidic approach using vibration-induced
local vortices to generate uniform DNA condensate droplets,
formed by interactions between sticky ends of multi-arm DNA
nanostructures, which serve as programmable smart materials. VILV
creates semi-closed microvortices that confine DNA, promoting
rapid, uniform droplet formation. Real-time tracking and systematic
control of size are achieved by tuning DNA concentration and
micropillar geometry. The platform also enables construction of
multicomponent “patchy” condensates with consistent morphology.
This scalable method provides a powerful tool for studying
liquid–liquid phase separation and constructing condensed
molecular systems.
