New HLSP: The Treasury of Extremely Metal-Poor O Stars (TEMPOS), a Cycle 31 HST Large Treasury program to build a far-ultraviolet spectral atlas of 29 hot, massive O-type stars in nearby metal-poor galaxies (<20% Solar) with compositions similar to early-Universe stars. archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/tempos
Overview of diagnostic features in the coadded HST/COS spectra from TEMPOS. An FUV spectrum is shown for the example star BUG A13 in the dwarf galaxy IC 1613 in nine different panels laid out in a three-by-three grid. Each panel shows important diagnostic features in the spectrum highlighted in orange or purple.

"And that's where an archive like this becomes so important, because you can consolidate all of that information from all these different telescopes operating at all these different wavelengths and have a one-stop shop where you can go and find what you need." Couldn't have said it better ourselves!

New HLSP: Parallel Ionizing Emissivity (PIE) survey, a large Pure Parallel HST program (PID 17147, PI Scarlata) designed to constrain the emission of Lyman continuum (LyC) radiation in galaxies at 3.1 < z < 3.5. archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/pie
The figure shows throughput of the PIE filters (F336W, F475W, F625W, F814W) as a function of wavelength, overlaid on an example galaxy spectrum (z~3.1) to illustrate the Lyman break technique, which uses a jump in flux between 3000 and 4000 angstroms, for the selection of high-redshift galaxies. The F336W and F475W filters bracket the jump in flux, with F336W in the absorbed wavelength range and F475W in the brighter wavelength range.

New HLSP: Terry Hubble Observations of Roman (THOR) early-release catalog of point sources in the Roman Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey footprint. Multi-passband photometry and astrometry (ACS+WFC3, F606W+F814W) cross-matched to HST-WFC3IR and Gaia DR3 where available. archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/thor
This two-panel figure shows, on the left; the color-magnitude diagram (CMD) for four of the early-release fields (HD16, HD70, HD98, and HD138). The stars in each of these four CMDs are in different positions in color and magnitude-space, largely due to the differential reddening and extinction along these sight lines toward the galactic bulge. On the right; the CMD of stars in the HD138 field, along with cross-identified Gaia DR3 stars (colored by Gaia G mag). The right-panel demonstrates the vast difference in detection efficiency and limiting magnitudes between Gaia DR3 and HST, where Gaia extends down to F814W of ~19.5, the HST detections extend to F814W of ~24.

HLSP Update: JWSTSTARS adds epoch photometry for the RR Lyrae population in WLM, and pulsation parameters for sources cross-matched with HST data. These include pulsation type; HST-derived periods; filter-wise amplitudes and mean magnitudes in F090W and F150W. archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/jwststars
Period-Amplitude diagrams for the JWST-HST cross-matched RR Lyrae sources in the F090W (left) and F150W (right) filters. Fundamental mode type pulsators (RRab) are shown in blue, while first-overtone type pulsators (RRc) are shown in orange. The two populations split into distinct regions of the diagram, with RRab sources having larger periods and spanning a larger range of amplitudes, while RRc sources sit in a lower-period, lower-amplitude region of the parameter space. The periods are filter-independent, measured in days, and presented on a base-10 log scale. The period axis (horizontal) ranges from log(P)=-0.5 to -0.2 on both diagrams. The amplitudes in the F090W filter are larger than those of the F150W filter, and are presented in magnitudes. The amplitude axis (vertical) in the F090W filter ranges from approximately 0.1 to 0.7 mag, while the F150W ranges approximately from 0.05 to 0.4 mag.

The SKYSURF logo displays a wave-like shape colored by a Hubble deep-sky image with plenty of galaxies visible on a black background. The Hubble Space Telescope appears outside the crest of the wave on top of a blue-green-yellow background which encircles the wave and telescope with the text SKYSURF in white text below the crest of the wave.Sky coverage of SKYSURF's 38,027 single-visit mosaics. This is an Aitoff Equatorial projection. Each black point, which are scattered throughout the diagram, represents the location of one single-visit mosaic. The regions shaded grey represent the areas filtered out of the multi-visit analysis: they form a "horseshoe" shape across a range of latitudes longitudes. Visits excluded from the multi-visit analysis are indicated by colored points: purple points indicate that a visit was filtered out due to being too close to a known bright source, blue points indicate that a visit was filtered out due to its location relative to the Milky Way's disk, and orange points indicate that a visit was filtered out due to its location relative to the Milky Way's bulge.

Really proud to advertise our accepted peer-reviewed paper analyzing the impact of MAST through analysis of 37,000 papers published in 40 journals over the last 50 years. It's a capstone to decades of work by dozens of MAST staff. Check out the preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2512.18101 (1/3) 🔭
Screenshot showing the title, authors, and abstract. Title is "The Impact of the MAST Data Archive". The abstract is "The Barbara A. Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes (MAST) hosts science-ready data products from over twenty NASA missions, plus community-contributed data collections, and other select surveys. The data support forefront research in the ultraviolet, optical, and near-infrared wavelength bands. We have constructed bibliographies for each mission from publications in nearly 40 professional journals, and have identified more than 37,000 refereed articles where investigators made a science usage of data hosted in MAST. The publication rate over the last 50 years shows that most MAST missions have had very high productivity during their in-service lifetimes, and have remained so for years or decades afterward. Annual citations to these publications, a measure of impact on research, are robust for most missions, with citations that grow over more than a decade. Most of the citations come from about 10% of articles within each mission.
We examined the bibliographies of the active missions HST and JWST in greater detail. For HST the rate of archival publications exceeded those authored by the original observing teams within a decade of launch, and is now more than 3 times higher. Early indications hint that JWST archival articles could dominate the publication rate even sooner. The production of articles resulting from any given observing program can extend for decades. Programs with small and very large allocations of observing time tend to be particularly productive per unit of observing time. For HST in general, a first publication appears within 1.5 yr for 50% of observing programs, and within 3.8 yr for 80% of programs. We discuss various external factors that affect publication metrics, their strengths and limitations for measuring scientific impact, and the challenges of making meaningful comparisons of publication metrics across missions."

New HLSP: TESS-YSO provides custom light curves for young stellar objects in TESS Full Frame Images, preserving their variability patterns. In the first release, the HLSP team provides light curves for young intermediate mass stars, focusing on Herbig Ae/Be classes. archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/tess-yso 🔭
An example of a light curve from TESS-YSO. The image depicts a line graph with "Normalized Flux" on the y-axis and "Time" on the x-axis. On a white background, mostly black points form a tight curve with quasi-periodic rises and falls, representing the source star's brightness as it changes with time. A few cyan points are in the sequence as well, which represent data points with quality issues.

New HLSP: M87-HST-UV contains the deepest ultraviolet image of M87 and reveals weak star formation in the past, likely following past outbursts from the central supermassive black hole! archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/m87-hst...
Left: Composite color image of the galaxy M87 from HST data (blue: F275W, green: F606W, red: F814W). Right: Same image after subtracting the diffuse galaxy light and smoothing, with Hα emission (green) overlaid. This processing reveals compact sources and filamentary structures otherwise hidden by the galaxy’s brightness. Many yellow point sources are M87 globular clusters, while blue objects include background galaxies and young stellar sources within M87. North is up and East is left.
