I thought being retired meant I would have all this time to write and edit. Nope. Super busy every day. How did I ever have a job and get all this shit done??? #amwriting #amediting #gayfiction #gayauthor #gayspecfic #mlm #mmromance #gaybooksky

Who knows!! 😠 Open it up to revise and the first couple pages were just gone. So writing time was a rewrite instead. At least I didn't lose more

How does a third of a chapter simply not be there when you open it to revise it??? Annoying! #gayfiction #gayauthor #mmromance #amrevising #amediting #gayfantasy #gayspecfic

It is!! I'm very excited to get this WIP out into the world

I'm doing a contemporary #MMromance now. I had romance in my previous novels obviously, but the romance (and sex) was more tangential to the fantasy plot. I feel more confident to face a full on romance now, and feel I'm approaching the relationship building with more authenticity now

Mason Thomas: Author @masonthomas.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

Absolutely! Currently I'm working on a contemporary mm romance (with a sprinkle of speculative mixed in). I'm surprised how much joy there is in creating and building a positive relationship in the WIP using my own newer experiences. But I still have access to all that pain I experienced in the past

Great question. The motivation to write is coming from a different place now. A more positive place, rooted in joy and fulfillment. I sit at the computer with more intention to create art than step away or hide from something. It is easier and safer to access certain emotions too

One of the fascinating things I've discovered recently about my writing journey was much of my work before was escapism from an unhappy life Now that I'm in a healthy secure relationship, living a very happy life, I'm rediscovering what writing means to me #gayauthor #gayfiction #amwriting

After a (too long) hiatus from any #writing, I'm back to editing my #wip. Feels good to be back into this world again and seeing it with fresh(er) eyes again. Need to get this #mmromance out into the world by summer #amwriting #amediting #gayfiction #gayspecfic #gayauthor #queetlit

I love it when my work organically finds itself in people's hands. And it means a lot that it had an impact-- truly why i wrote them. I wrote the books I wanted to read. I appreciate so much that you shared this! 💜

Trust my subconscious. I just sit down and write and it always figures it out. I call it "letting the dog off the leash."

Nothing compels me to write more than reading the bad writing from someone who is actually doing really well 🙄

Drives me nuts we people put out invites and important info only on fb. I never see them

Mason Thomas: Author @masonthomas.bsky.social · 18/01/2025

I haven't been using fb for promotional stuff in some time. Back before the dark times, twitter used to be where I got the most engagement and was able to reach new readers. BS has that feel again!! But I've been so bad about getting into the habit of promoting again. That muscle needs flexing

I already feel like I purged a demon. I dumped twitter about 6 months ago and put my focus here on Bluesky and was very happy with the decision. Not sure why I still struggled to dump META
