The problem isn’t that they’re moving past it—it’s that they’re trying to rehabilitate it. Would be better for everyone if people who don’t want to engage with the facts just talked about the play on the field and left it at that.

Jamelle’s newest video is great as always . While I think he’s right about the racism component to honesty, I think it also ties back to his first point about corruption. If people believe the system is corrupt then someone who says “I’m corrupt” seems honest m.youtube.com/watch?v=mhVV...

The broadcast today was seriously just gross. Only with Kirk Herbstreit, Al Michaels, and Amazon’s production crew do you get someone with dozens of sexual assault allegations and who the league found to be a predator be called a hero 🤮

Different reaction than everyone else: the cost/performance is rough compared to Opus 5.5. Seems good on Low and Medium but above that it’s either on or worse than Opus’s cost per task. In an ideal world you really don’t want this much overlap
Opus 5.5 vs Sonnet 5.5 benchmark cost per task graph. Low and medium reasoning are cheaper for Sonnet 5.5 than Opus, as soon as Opus 5.5 performance is hit it’s always equal or better than Sonnet 5.5 per cost

So, on the Mahomes hit it there wasn’t any contact to the helmet so that could only be a body weight call. Problem is both flags were thrown before Mahomes hit the ground so that can’t be what the call is because that hadn’t happened yet… standard Chiefs reffing clown shit lol

GPT-6 Sol and Opus 5.5 might be the best aligned models ever and are amazing for it. Not in the boring ways nerds care about like hacking or not killing us all, but in trying to guess what the ideal version of what I actually want is and building exactly that

AI is getting cheaper more quickly than any other transformative tech in history. At a given level of performance, cost has fallen ~47%/quarter since 2023. That’s 4× faster than DNA sequencing, 6× faster than compute, 18× faster than lithium batteries, and (up to 1973) 54× faster than electricity.

This is an hour behind post, but I like that the solution to not getting the national anthem booed in #ASU vs #KU was just to fuckin shred on an electric guitar. And mute the crowd… I was hoping for the Hendrix version when it started but that’s one of a kind 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m finally watching Silo season 3 and am like halfway through and man what has been a great adaption is just totally going off the rails this season. This is D&D levels of writers not understanding the source material and infantilizing the story. God forbid characters be complicated 😒

Mason? @masonsal.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Really interesting. I would’ve expected the harness to be more important for dumb models and less important for smart ones, but it really looks like cost is the only factor. Probably less true outside of coding, but maybe the lesson really is minimal toolsets that fit the problem

I’m late to watching the end of #Texas #OSU. Hell of a game, awful commentator performance. No, you don’t let a team just score when up by 6 to save time, especially when your offense is cold. Yes, you can still snap the ball when your players are lined up with 5 seconds. No, replay isn’t magic

I’m needing to make a slide deck and I’m trying to use Gemini for it and it’s the most painful experience of my life. Whatever creation tools they’re giving the poor 3B model powering this are just terrible

A bunch of people are talking about divide and conquer reviewing today. The Anthropic code review skill has really made me hate that pattern and gets a “don’t use the code review skill, if using subagents make them at least Opus level” instruction every time. Try a large review with and without

Someone *really* needs to start benchmarking quants. Like could a Q4 of V4 Flash run on a Mac Studio and be Sonnet 4.5 levels of intelligence? Hard to know but maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yea, this is pretty bad if you read up on it. Normally I don’t like OpenAI’s aversion to testing harnesses, but when the testing harness discards reasoning and doesn’t do compaction at all that’s pretty egregious…

Wrote about why AI safety incidents are leading ~some people~ to stick their fingers in their ears and insist nothing is happening www.platformer.news/a-big-week-f...
What all of these arguments have in common is that they serve as invitations to stop thinking about AI.

Who cares? It's just marketing.

Who cares? They're just doing what they were programmed to.

Who cares? It's not like they're sentient.

I understand the appeal of arguments like these. The implications of an exponential takeoff in AI capabilities are extremely worrisome. They range from advanced cyberattacks like the one Hugging Face just endured to job loss, novel bioweapons, expanded systems for surveillance and repression, and autonomous weaponry. Who wants to think about any of that, if they don't have to?

My #F1 hot take is that the new regs are good and most of the hate comes from people actively seeking out info to make them mad. The racing is a ton of fun, 4 teams changing who’s fastest depending on track, good inter-team fights, and people are hunting full lap onboards to be angry about speeds

Ignorant soccer take: so I get that in penalties hitting one of the top corners is impossible to save so it’s ideal, but I also feel like those shots get missed a lot. The save rate by the goalie seems even smaller so I assume it’s higher percent to just put it literally anywhere else on goal? IDK

Sonnet 5 is a weird one, they kinda bury its capabilities in the system card. Seems like it’s designed to be a factory model that can be given long tasks with low intervention and do a solid job at the cost of a ton of tokens. Max thinking is very good but uses a TON of tokens

#F1 has finally figured out how to fix the #MonacoGP, you simply need to change up the rules slightly so it’s a penalty fest and then the commentators get to debate what exactly changed that’s causing so many penalties. That’s what a good car race is made of

Insane laps from Kimi and Max. Being 2 tenths up what Leclerc and Hamilton did is absurd. Really hope Kimi nails his start tomorrow, with his starts so far this year I’m sure Max is smelling blood into T1. I assume “and through goes Hamilton” is too much to hope for? #F1

This benchmark is passing my vibe check for the models I’ve used. I know running benchmarks is expensive, but my only complaints are not including more thinking levels and I’d love if notable historic models like Sonnet 4.5 were included for reference

Really stupid prediction: US companies are going to be very stubborn about using Chinese made LLMs even versions running locally or hosted in the US. Businesses/products will spin up around just doing a tiny fine tune pass on those models to rename and “Americanize” them, basically what Cursor did
