on one hand, it is absolutely awful that artists r getting harassed & told that their art is AI. on the other hand, I glad there is some incentive now to move away from the most generic anime style possible which used to be overly rewarded for appealing to the lowest common denominator

I do find it hard in stardew to not stress abt how well my farm is doing, but my best friend only cares abt decorations. I think people vary a lot & not every game needs to be for every type of person. like, I can even regulate my own emotions & not worry abt the farm too much if I try

gen AI just refers to the output being generative (theoretically or practically unlimited) i.e. protein folding. it is a mathematics thing, nothing to do it cheapening art or writing. AI slop is what people r actually annoyed by, but people don't wanna call it that bc it doesn't feel as existential

people like to complain abt AI broadly rather than AI slop bc it makes their complaint seem like it has some greater moral weight to it. as if a form of mathematics itself cld be innately unethical & not the implementation of that mathematics

I am as put off by AI slop as anyone, but I am sick of hearing the criticisms of people who can only conceive of art as a form of commodity. these people don't care about the discipline. they don't care about the tradition. they only care abt if they r getting their dollars worth

like, no one can tell me that @tweegeemee.bsky.social is taking away human jobs. to me, this is fresh ground that continues from abstract artists before us. it resonates with the world as it is today as Paul Klee put it, "the more horrifying the world becomes, the more art becomes abstract."

mad abt bad AI criticism!!! there is non-gen AI stuff that is bad in the same way. u can make AI slop thru non-gen methods. I bet the people complaining wld still hate Luma's approach to 3D models. meanwhile there r still gen art projects that explore the digital absurdness that only computers can

I think I hate taking on a form bc I fear I will be stuck that way forever, but people both special & strange have depicted me all kinds of different ways and each one has been a form I hold dear. I used to think I was indescribable, but I am forever shifting while recognizable
