For fuck's sake 💀💀💀 I saw some dipshit bragging about their vegan dogs and cats online once and it made me want to throw up. If you want a vegan pet, get an herbivore!! You should not be allowed to own a carnivorous animal and force them to live on vegetables!!

Maybe at one point they could have convinced me I don't know shit and cats need corn for a balanced diet or whatever, but given how I have a pretty good track record for my cats living well into their super-senior years, so I'm disinclined to change the fundamentals of how I'm caring for them.

I'm losing my mind. EVERY VET I'VE SEEN for the past few years has been really insistant that I really should be feeding my cats Hill's!! Are Hill's running all the veterinary schools these days or something?? Why do you all want me to feed my cats the world's most expensive corn!?

It's bonkers. I'm looking at about $1k for the combo of cardio workup and dental cleaning for Gibson. They also want to do imaging on Moxie to figure out why she has spells where she can't keep her food down for days at a time. Cats are gonna bankrupt me 😭

I agree raw diets are a stupid trend that is dangerous for pets' health, and dogs shouldn't be fed only meat, okay? But there is basically NO alternative. It's prescription Blue Buffalo food that doesn't have corn, or prescription corn kibbles that make my cats sick. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.

Also, per the vet I saw today, Blue Buffalo is evil and bad because they push raw and grain-free diets for dogs, and I should not feed it to my cats. I should feed them hill's science expensive prescription corn kibbles instead, which give them diarrhea and dermatitis.

My dudes, I can just pick up the food bowls. Give them 15-20 minutes to eat at feeding time, then pick up the bowls so Zelda doesn't eat everyone's leftovers.

Also, they shamed me over how fat Zelda has gotten (over 13lbs!!) and reiterated to me all the health problems obesity can cause in cats (I AM AWARE) and suggested I need to spend hundreds of dollars on microchipped food enclosures to keep her out of the other cats' food.

I took Zelda and Gibson to the vet today for check-up/vaccinations. Both cats need a dental cleaning. Okay, understandable. Turns out they also think Zelda has early signs of periodontitis and Gibson has a heart murmur. So Gib needs a cardio workup before he can be anesthetized for any dental work

My precious ancient demon child Moxie was so, so good at the vet yesterday. She also took her pre-vet gabapentin in a pill pocket with no fuss at all. Absolutely unprecedented. Miraculous. And she was so clingy when we got home 😭😭 my poor darling baby.

I don't think I properly knew that there were animal cops. Like, I vaguely knew Animal Control is a government office, but never expected a uniformed dude to show up at my house like "yeah, we had a report of a cat bite at this residence" LIKE?? 💀💀💀💀💀

She's SO picky. But she's eating greenies lately, and I give her cosequin and probiotics daily that she happily laps up when mixed with plain water. So I'm going to experiment with giving her pill pockets with bits of other treats inside leading up to The Day, to see if I can reduce her suspicion. 🤞

I told her that she almost went to jail today, but when the cops came looking I told them I didn't know where she was. She also requires sedation for vet visits. The trick will be administering her pre-appointment gabapentin without her biting me again. 😅

The end result is that I have to take her in to get her rabies vaccination up to date (it expired in July.) So. From her perspective, that will certainly be harassment. But it's due, anyway, along with an annual exam. (We do tend to procrastinate with her annuals, due to her aggressiveness.)

Moxie bit me the other day, and I went to the doctor for antibiotics, as one does for a significant cat bite. Then today the Animal Cops showed up at my house because my doctor narced on her for her bite crimes.
