Today the UK Statistics Authority has recommended Government commissions a census of England and Wales in 2031. Subject to Government approval, along side growing use of administrative data this will support a system of population & migration statistics which best meets the needs of users.

In July, we published 2023 mid-year population estimates. Alongside these we published more information on our admin-based population estimates (ABPEs), this represents a huge step forward in our plans to make greater use of administrative data. 8/14
