Virginia decides school funding based on two formulas. The Standards of Quality and the Local Composite Index. When they fall short, every classroom experiences it. #FundTheGrade #KnowYourBallotVA #VEAVotes app.sosha.ai/s/NaJ2N1AJ

A seat at the table is basic respect. To not be silenced to not have the possibility of a seat at the table is beyond disrespectful. Governor Spanberger- the public sector workers are watching & will not forget your actions.

The right to collectively bargain is foundational to all workers’ rights, and today Gov. Spanberger denied half a million Virginia public service workers that right. The governor failed to listen to workers, and we are deeply disappointed by the betrayal of her promise. www.aft.org/press-releas...

In 1946, Virginia banned public sector collective bargaining specifically to stop Black hospital workers at UVA from organizing. It was a Jim Crow-era law. This new bill destroys old frameworks + powers the collective. #VEAVotes #CollectiveBargaining app.sosha.ai/s/jCcCXIMA

A regulatory kill switch. A 2030 delay. No accountability. That’s what we’re facing if the Collective Bargaining substitute bill passes. Ask the VA Senate and House to stand with working people and reject these amendments! #VEAVotes app.sosha.ai/s/nDcBrmqG

$1.02 billion dollars. That’s what sales and use tax exemptions cost Virginia in 2024, including about $212 per student. Imagine what that money could mean for our kids, and tell the VA legislature: no data center tax abatements in this year’s budget! #VEAVotes app.sosha.ai/s/jIIqDkdj

The unintended consequences of this administration. Having lived where the majority of our produce is grown & harvested by migrant workers from Mexico, I think this administration's policies stink (sanitized)This country relies on an incredible amount of labor from people who aren't citizens.

I write a lot about U.S. history because everything happening is part of a bigger picture, and to understand our country right now, we need to understand its past. Also because clearly not everyone remembers that we made a choice a long time ago not to have kings here.

There is a LOT of reporting on IMLS right now, but it's being done by people who know what it is. The DOE being dismantled is overshadowing this and that's being done INTENTIONALLY. But anyway, DOGE is in the IMLS offices right now destroying it. Say goodbye to interlibrary loans + more.

The library and the post office are the only two systems we have that circulate things widely and to everyone, no matter who they are or what they believe. The library is the only one that, for now, is not forced to pay for itself at point of sale. Attacks on IMLS are attacks on every one of us.

As children's book bans soar, sales are down and librarians are afraid. Even in California
Book bans are tanking sales of children’s books. Schools and libraries aren’t buying books about LGBTQ+ issues and race as they brace for culture war pushback.
