I’ve lost track of breweries to avoid. So many brands I love bought by conglomerates. Craft beer options in the liquor stores where I live in NM are immediately suspect because I don’t trust the owners to know the product. Was in Ft. Collins last weekend and felt like a kid in a candy store.

Also managed to score a couple ft3 of wood chips after a neighbor across the street had their trees trimmed. The contractor was not bothered at all to dump them in my yard before they wrapped up for the day. Exchanged contact info, showed him how to open the gate. Please, anytime, ese.

I’m going to be honest, I stopped watching the Mariners a long time ago. They built Safeco (I’m still going to call it that), and I went to a bunch of games there that I really enjoyed, but after sitting in center field for that game 5, everything after felt like a let down. That's a wrap on the 2025 monsoon season. ~75% of New Mexico ended with near to above average rainfall! Some mountain ranges picked up >20" of rain! Northwest New Mexico missed out on most of the monsoon this year with <50% of their average rainfall.

A record number of Flash Flood Warning were issued in New Mexico during this year's monsoon season. 379 in total, beating the old record from 2022 by just 13 warnings. Lincoln County, where Ruidoso is, had the second highest on record. Props to the NWS offices in New Mexico!

Albuquerque had consistent and overall above average dew points almost all monsoon season. Despite that, we ended up 1.41" below average with 3.07" of rain this year. The 32nd driest monsoon on record of 134 years. It was also the 5th warmest.

A couple of years ago I bought a cassette player from someone on Craigslist and the guy offered to sell me a box of tapes, both commercially produced and someone’s mix tapes. I just put in a random mix tape and am now unexpectedly listening to the Star Wars soundtrack.

Mexican chile crisp, and I already want to do it all over again, but better.

A black, red, and yellow mix of small bits in a pot. It is a mix of different chiles, garlic, shallots, pepitas, and sesame seeds, all brought together with heat and oil to make a Mexican chile crisp.
