She stumbled and fell next to a blackthorn bush and made use of the mishap by picking two pocketfuls of sloes.

The last of our homegrown tomatoes in a fabulous bowl I bought at the local organic farm this morning 🧡
Small tomatoes in a handmade bowl. The bowl is a ‘rustic’ style, with sloping sides, half glazed and painted with root veg. I love it.

Dreamed I was in a 5 person art collective/marriage and responsible for ALL admin. Rented a tiny, haunted flat that spoiled our comestibles overnight. Art Venue was bright with a Sgt Pepper’s vibe, but their giant, possessed lawnmower tried to murder me. Our art sucked; I pretended not to notice.

Today’s wasp news: I have determined that hangry dudes are just a couple of hours from death. If I leave them be, I need only clear up the bodies later. (Except for the bodies that get eaten by desperate hangry dudes.) I’d rather help them to escape my kitchen, but not at the cost of being stung.

Looking through leaves across fields, some with golden dry grass, some with bare ploughed earth. The light is soft and tge distance a little hazy.

This morning I have mostly been gathering empirical evidence: 1. at this time of year wasps are no longer chilled out dudes 2. one pissed off wasp will instantly call in the troops 3. I’m not (currently) allergic to wasp stings 4. an ice pack calms the sting reaction really quickly

The joys of being a grownup: - fried potato & poached eggs for lunch - ignore the To Do List - lounge on the bed to read the afternoon away - cake for tea - wine, books, bed by 7pm Apart from the wine, that’s pretty much the life I dreamed of as a child.

46 years ago today the Pure Land Peace Festival took place in Willen Lakeside Park, Milton Keynes. Here's the wonderful poster for it, shared for #MKMonday!
A poster depicting the Willen Lake Pagoda surrounded by cherry trees in a watercolour illustration. The sunset is reflected in the waters of the lake. At the top of the poster is the phrase 'Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō', (Devotion to the Mystic Dharma of the Lotus Flower Sutra). Beneath the drawing is an excerpt of the Lotus Flower Sutra Chapter VXI, with the text below it saying 'Pure Land Peace Festival / Willen Lakeside Park, Milton Keynes Bucks / 21 September 1980 - BE 2524'.

It may have been wise for the author to write for the understanding of contemporary readers, rather than going with accurate usage? But seeing an accusation of laziness based on a misapprehension easily corrected by doing a quick search… I thought everyone knew, tbh, bc that’s what makes it funny.

Trying to resist the lure of someone being wrong in the internet, but ‘to cast up one’s accounts’ really is a bookkeeping thing. To cast (up) means to add up and was still in ordinary, late C20 accounting use. Yes, it does also refer to puking - that’s how you create an amusing euphemism.
