home #controlresonant

sketchbook page, with a yellow hornbeam leaf taped to it. the leaf fell on my face the other day while i was walking the dog. i wrote “this place, it’s… it reminds me of home, jesse” on the page under it.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

let me go #controlresonant

digital drawing made with a brush that resembles charcoal. it's a double portrait of two characters from CONTROL games, jesse faden and emily pope. they're hugging very tightly because they're very good friends. a small bright star is shining above them. happy international lesbian day!

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

faden(s) #controlresonant

digital drawing of control games’ characters, jesse and dylan faden, portrayed in their teenage years. they both sit with their legs crossed, back to back to each other, jesse turned to us. dylan is wearing his P6 outfit, jesse is dressed as civilian. it is implied that dylan is drawing, but we can’t see his hands (or his face), only paper around him. messy black lines surround the floor around jesse though, and she touches them with her right hand.

30: [the last] unicorn #swordtember

drawing of a sword. it’s mostly purple and [bone] white in colour. the guard of the sword is the upper part of the skull of a unicorn (no lower jaw), with the horn placed as one side of the blade. so the blade is two-sided: one side is metal (purple), the other is unicorn’s horn (sliced in two halves in the middle, vertically). am i making any sense??? there’s also a big blue gem placed in the eye socket of the skull. purple ribbon is wrapped around the sword’s handle.

if i don’t see you there, then i’ll meet you in the end

drawing of a barren landscape and a character from the personal project i’m working on. JD is sitting on a black sand shore with his back to us. the black sand takes a lot of space in the picture, with just a thin line of gray water and gray sky. JD is wearing a blue jacket and is smoking a cigarette. there’s a thin white line coming from the cigarette. it does a leap and ends up by a very small silhouette of another human on the horizon.

drawing of a barren landscape and a character from the personal project i’m working on. the sand is white here, and the sky is black and takes a lot of space in the picture. Rylan is standing with their back to us, wearing full body gear from their job. it’s all white and seems to be made of silicone. they’re carrying a tool from their job with them too. it looks like a big hook with a long handle. there are seven stars forming a semi-circle above them, and one of the stars is blue and has a long tail. a thin white line starts at the hook Rylan is holding, does a leap that resembles an infinity symbol, and ends where the blue star’s tail ends.

29: kelpie #swordtember

drawing of a sword which was inspired by kelpies. the handle is in shape of a horse bending its neck downward. the leg is a handle. the sword is green in colour, with some patterns resembling kelp.

drawing of a lightsaber with a red hilt and acidic green laser

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

27: lily #swordtember

drawing of a sword (a rapier?) which was inspired by daylily. it has a blooming flower in place of the sword’s guard, and a couple of smaller buds too. the blade looks like a long pointy leaf.

my brain for the last ten hours:

photo of a cute seal (animal) + picture of a sword = white dog wearing pjs ? meme

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

26: seal #swordtember

drawing of a sword that is just a red plastic lead seal. another example of “it’s not a sword it’s just a shape of a sword” situation i have going on here

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

25: pearlescent #swordtember

drawing of a sword. it’s mainly made out of red coral: it’s blade, it’s handle, it’s ‘guard’. the guard is half-circle in shape, with some offshoots that make it look like an uneven sun or a flower. in the middle of this half-circle sits a verrry biiig and pretty pearl.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

24: tidepool #swordtember

drawing of a sword. or a shape of a
sword. it’s basically just some tidepool creatures in shape of a sword, with a layer of ‘water’ on top of it. sorry i was busy playing games today

< We will be with you soon, Jesse/Dylan Faden > #controlresonant

digital drawing of two characters from Control games, Jesse and Dylan Faden. they’re both wielding their weapons (Jesse with her Service Weapon/Gun, Dylan with his Aberrant/giant hammer), both cool as all hell/gender envy inducing, seemingly in the middle of some battle/fight for control. the background consists of mostly just rectangular/triangular shapes.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

23: fruit #swordtember

drawing of a sword which design was inspired by dragon fruits. the spiky blade is the fruit itself, and the handle is the stem the fruits grow on.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

22: vegetable #swordtember

drawing of a sword in its sheath. the handle of the sword is green, and the sheath is bright orange. with those two details put together, it makes the sword look like a carrot.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

looking good

photo of a mushroom i picked in the forest. i hold it in my hand. my beagle is also there with me.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

21: bovine #swordtember

drawing of a sword. two curved horns of a
bull are placed where the sword’s guard should be. a ring below them connects the guard with a simple handle. the blade is kinda shaped like a cow’s tail. a small bell is hanging from the blade, close to the guard.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

20: amber #swordtember

drawing of a sword. its blade is carved entirely out of amber, and in the place where it connects with the guard there’s a petrified insect in it. it looks like some sort of a wasp. the guard itself is not complete, theres just one side of it, and the other one is replaced by the insect’s wing.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

19: game #swordtember

drawing of a weird sword. its design is based on an ancient game called hounds and jackals (or fifty-eight-holes). i counted all the holes in the blade while drawing this and i’m pretty sure there’s fifty eight of them, but i’m also tired af so there’s a chance that i miscounted.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

18: serpent #swordtember

drawing of a sword that’s basically just a green serpent, from start to finish. serpent’s neck is the sword’s handle, two coils (and two feet) of its body form the sword’s guard, and the rest of its long tail is the blade. its mouth is open, red, just like its eye.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

17: monkey #swordtember

drawing of a sword (sabre? kinda), golden and red in colour. the handle and the guard are a silhouette of a monkey (red-tailed guenon), and the blade is the monkey’s long, curved tail.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

16: portal #swordtember

drawing of a plastic-y looking (mostly white, with bright colourful accents on the blade and the handle) sword with a slightly curved blade. one side of the blade opens a very pretty purple-pink pocket (portal) to another dimension, with stars and small planets.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

15: seed #swordtember

drawing of a silly green sword which blade is shaped like an open pod of green peas🫛

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 14/09/2026

14: ship #swordtember

drawing of a wooden sword, covered in carvings. the guard looks like a dragon figurehead of a viking ship.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

13: [mud daubers’] nest #swordtember

you know mud daubers? they look like wasps on a diet. and they build their nests out of mud, and those (sometimes?) look like thin pipes with holes. like flutes. so this is a drawing of a sword that’s ‘made’ out of these thin pipes. yes, it looks weird as heck. yes, it gives me the creeps. no, i do not care, this one is my favourite now.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

funny thing, i was actually thinking about these guys while drawing this sword lol

silk snipper enemy from silksong

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

12: surgical #swordtember

drawing of a sword. its shape resembles one of those surgical scissors, but the portrayal is not especially accurate. at least the vibe is there. sorta. and the handle is tied up with a red thread with a tiny knot.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

11: bake🥖 #swordtember

drawing of a sword. kinda. its blade and handle are hidden inside a baguette as if someone was trying to smuggle it somewhere. quite an unimpressive attempt, i gotta admit.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

///

two digital drawings, in grayscale. one of a person dressed in white protective gear, sitting on uneven stairs leading to undisclosed structure, surrounded by trinkets. the other of a girl sitting with her back to us at the long table she usually shares with her brother. light comes into the room through a long window before her, but the landscape behind the window is unclear. the girl is reading a book. her name is Noma, she’s a character from a personal project i’m working on.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

10: crustacean #swordtember

drawing of a sword made out of a long, light purple in colour shell with a sharp point. it kinda looks like a narwhal horn. a red hermit crab lives inside the shell, and it’s peeking out from it where the sword’s guard is supposed to be. there are a couple barnacles on the shell, too.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

09: mandrake #swordtember

drawing of a sword in shape of a whole plant of mandrake. the root is forming the sword’s handle and guard, the long green leaves and their stems are forming the blade.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

another life, almost ten years ago

watercolor painting of a messy room that simultaneously worked as a kitchen, an entry room, and a hallway. there’s a fridge, a couple of old chairs, a bunch of shoes, and other stuff.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

08: crane #swordtember

drawing of a sword. it’s kinda shaped like a katana, but no actual katana references were used in the process of drawing this one. its guard is a head of a bird (an east african crowned crane, to be precise), with an impressive haircut. the long neck of the bird is the sword’s handle.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

07: gamble #swordtember

drawing of a silver sword with big 777 placed on the blade. the handle is pretty much impossible to hold onto though, it’s like a part of the blade itself and there are spikes coming out of the guard towards the handle where a hand should hold it. thus, the whole ‘handle’ is covered in blood.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

06: circus #swordtember

drawing of a sword that’s made of a metal clown horn in place of a handle and a giant metal note in place of a blade. the thing is ugly

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

another ghost

digital grayscale drawing of a person dressed in white protection gear standing before a giant, long window and a power plant landscape behind it. it’s all dark and blurry, with lights and unclear shapes, and almost feels like a dream. the person has a reflection on the glass of this window, and it’s also blurry. there’s a number 415 on the back of their uniform.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

04&05: comedy and tragedy #swordtember

digital drawing of two silver blades that look like they should be dual-wilded. both blades resemble shapes of eyes, one closed (with crimson stone-tear falling from it), the other open (and seems to belong to someone smiling or laughing, pupil also crimson red with a stone).

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

this is what i call peak character design

drawing of mulder and scully who look like two dark rectangles (scully is smaller) with two different haircuts

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

i still have you, i still have myself #xfiles

digital drawing of silhouettes of scully and mulder who are running somewhere in a hurry with their cool long coats on, and a shape of an eye hovering over them. i want a long coat too, boss!

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

03: wax #swordtember

digital drawing of an… object in shape of a sword, i guess. it’s actually a cross and a burning candle tied and glued together at the bottom of the cross with the help of wax and red threads. the upper side of the cross is also tied up with threads and cloth to make the ‘handle’ of this ‘sword’. the cross is made of wood and is very simplistic, with no carvings or anything. the flame of the candle is eating the wax inconsistently. two golden coins are hanging from the red threads. it might seem impractical, but since i make the rules here it’s all lore-justified.

martyfive @martyfive.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

02: harvest #swordtember

digital drawing of a sword (sickle) that looks like a thin slice of a pumpkin, with a pumpkin stem instead of a handle. the blade is orange in colour. it looks like someone especially hungry munched on it, too, but didn’t finish the job. two pumpkin seeds are situated above the sickle, and that makes the chowed blade look like a creepy smile.
