We have got used to the idea of the Gaza Genocide. But what if the right frame is a variable, two- or even multi-zone Israeli Genocide?
B’tselem‘s new report on Israel’s Elimination Project shows the West Bank is a second zone of genocide - even if it doesn’t use the term. I discuss the implications for understanding and policy.

I analyse Miliband’s statement line by line—bottom line, they’re sanctioning the settlements, companies and individuals not the occupying state or the IDF. While Israel is retaliating directly against the British state. martinshawx.substack.com/p/ed-miliban...

He proposes to address the state’s unlawful occupation by tackling the economic relationships with the territories, not with the state that is occupying. While Israel targets the British state.

I’ve written a piece for History Workshop reflecting on mass activism and direct action - as Marral says, we first met when a group of members of the late 1960s LSE Socialist Society supported today’s Palestine activists in the School, who were under threat from the LSE authorities.

No Binary between Freedom and Resistance
Weaknesses in the controversial Open Letter to Iranian political prisoners do not negate the validity of its premise that we can oppose the regime and the war at the same time.

My new article explains what Burnham and Miliband should really be doing about Israel—breaking the UK’s alliance with the genocidal state, not pleading with it to change course; sanctioning the state, not just the settlers and individual ministers. tribunemag.co.uk/2026/08/the-...

The UK Must Break With Israel
No more piecemeal measures. The government should sanction the genocidal occupying state and renounce the UK-Israel relationship.

“What the physical record shows is a military that could confine its violence to a single room when it chose to, and elsewhere chose otherwise.” - Israel discriminated between Christian and other areas in the degree of “precision” it used in targeting.

Brilliant talk, inc. plenty of excellent reflections on so-called subaltern genocides. Also agree that the term genocide should not be dumped. Now I wonder, if genocide is indeed part of a historical colonial continuum, what criteria do we use to date its actual start? @martinshaw.bsky.social
