Despite relatively warm temperatures for the time of year in D&G the catches have been at bit meager. Last night only 17/10. The best NFG Pearly Underwing and a late record of Garden Tiger. #teammoth

Over the last week there has been a tireless effort to tackle the ongoing wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park. While encouraging progress had been made thanks to immense support, unfortunately the fire threat has been growing at RSPB Abernethy following a change in weather conditions.

Ending the week beside the water with a pair of Dippers... 😍 Now it’s your turn…share your recent nature snaps and stories below! 👇 📷️ Luke Macpherson
Two Dippers perch together on mossy branches beside dark water in a shaded woodland scene. Their chocolate-brown plumage and bright white chests stand out against the soft greens and tangled branches around them. One bird stands slightly ahead of the other, both poised and alert as though pausing between quick visits to the stream.

Sir David Attenborough… on your 100th birthday, we thank you. For a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with such grace and wonder. Generations have fallen in love with nature because of you. Happy birthday, Sir. 🎉
This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

The Crane, Scotland's tallest bird, had a record breeding season in 2025! After going extinct in Scotland due to habitat loss and hunting around 400 years ago, Cranes naturally recolonised an area of Aberdeenshire and first attempted breeding in 2012.
