waymo launching pilot in austin where they partner with waze to report potholes to the city and state (and to waze users), this is pretty cool the only times I've ever fallen off my e-bike is when I didn't see an insane pothole in time and wiped out waymo.com/blog/2026/04...

that's a wrap on the first SXSW post-convention center demolition, glad to see so much unofficial/free concert programming prevail throughout the construction SXSW continues to be one of the most rewarding weeks to rely exclusively on walking/bike/transit in austin

hike/bike access to the 35 bridge over town lake has now been removed on the east side of the bridge as the 35 construction continues you can still access the 35 bridge on foot or bike on the older, more narrow, less safe blocked off edge on the west side of the bridge tho

wow, the big tree that used to lean over the shoal creek trail just north of the 9th st bridge at duncan park is a goner - guess it was dying or something on the bright side, you can bike on this part of the trail now without needing to slow down or duck your head

first rendering of the $1.6B austin convention center rebuild work begins when the current building closes in april and is slated wrap around late '28/'29 convention space will be underground and 3rd st will be reconnected as a road with 2nd st and a neches extension reconnected for pedestrians

Survey for the University Neighborhood Overlay update is out! Staff propose amending the borders and boosting height limits in all of the subdistricts. I think council should push harder on the boundaries but the increased density is great to see. publicinput.com/w11878
