'There's a basic rule in politics and in life: hate people and they will hate you back.' Well said - and true. We are seeing intense hatred from and for nearly all politicians in the USA. Hopefully it will fuel us to create the change we desperately need.

Voted for Kim and Steyer. Thank You. Hand delivered my ballot to our collection box at City Hall this afternoon.

Aaah ... thank you, my friend. You are definitely one of the very best things about BlueSky x 10.

Excellent points. I can understand the yearning for independence. Indeed, I found Scotland very different from England. There has long been a movement in California to make the Golden State independent. Now more than ever. California is the engine the rest of the country runs on.

Good to know. Thank you, David. Perhaps I've landed on some perverse lists. I've been advised that those who describe themselves as feminists get pelted on all social media.

Haven't we though? We only have to look to at the natural world - and to our wonderful family pets - to see how much better other species are than humans.

Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 11/12/2025
You are right to be cynical about America, Paul. It is cruel, barbaric country. It always has been, now more than ever. You are very fortunate to live in Scotland. Do you favour Scottish Independence?

Indeed, December is the big giving month for sure. This year more than ever.

Well said, as always Paul. We need a whole new species. One that honours women and girls; equality; socialism; education, and our environment - for starters.

I thought the same until recently, my friend. Now everyone who wants to be 'my friend', is asking for money on BlueSky.
120
Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 11/12/2025
That surprises me, Steve. How annoying for you. Apparently BlueSky has around 8-million active accounts now. The number of people asking for money this month is off the charts. I detest scammers and tome wasters.

Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
Obviously, I don't agree about that.

Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
Thank You for sharing this. It's useful - but I disagree about Hilary Clinton. She did not become president because America is a stunningly misogynistic country. We do need to weed out the corporate Democrats. Big time. This starts with Schumer and Jeffries.

Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
Delete one thing forever. Explain why. I'd delete misogyny. Women and girls are murdered, raped, imprisoned, force to have babies, denied an education, by the tens if millions, in every country in the world, because of misogyny.

Misogyny. Violence and oppression against women and girls is an epidemic that costs millions of lives and keeps millions living in fear and poverty.

This applies equally to countries. There is a time for letting go, for shedding old ideas of who we are - and who we might yet become.

Our library, through 'Friends of The Library' has a massive book sale two days a month, handled by volunteers. It's astonishing the quality books one finds there for a couple of bucks. Every kind of book imaginable, well organized, just like a library would do.

It's not a bad thing to survive with our reputation in tatters --- as long it will be. For too long, America (the country) was an arrogant bully. We have been humbled to the core by the fascism threatening us every day. If we survive this, we will have been deservedly humbled by the experience.

Project 25 is massive. I doubt anyone has gotten through all of it, Steve. And the date just means the start of it. It could go on for decades. They will succeed and fail. We will succeed and fail. They will not win. We will not win. This is a long, long, long struggle.

Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
Agree, my friend. They are disdained and they know they are. BUT - and we see this within all oppressed groups - they seek to appease the oppressor by joining the oppressor and becoming that which seeks to destroy them. It's stunningly common.

As @suzette.bsky.social points out, religion makes people more conservative - and I would add judgemental. Many marginalized groups in Britain and America are members of religions that are deeply misogynistic and insular. As you say, Dave, they fear 'the other', even when they are 'the other'.
010
Marsha Coupé @marshacoupe.bsky.social · 10/12/2025
Yes. I believe you are quite right, Suzette. Religion often makes people more conservative and dare I say, judgemental. It's bad for women and very bad for democracy. It is one of the reasons America is such a dangerous place for anyone who isn't white and male.

When I lived in England, I was surprised that most of the people I met from India, Iran and Pakistan were Conservatives with a very large C. They denied others the advantages they themselves had enjoyed. I see the same in America. California has a large population from Mexico who are Republicans.

I can see that. They also may find themselves hugely attracted to people from other countries, in spite of themselves.

This is happening not far from us in California. Oligarchs quietly buying up farmland all over the state with the intent to create new towns and cities in their likeness. Future generations may find themselves living in places like Musk; Gates; Cook; Jobs; Altman; Zuckerberg; Andreessen . . .
