Today is a great celebration for Franciscans worldwide: it marks the 800th anniversary of the death of the Little Poor Man of Assisi, who died on this day in 1226 (as he had lived) - singing the praises of God

We were six at Meeting (Margaret was prevented, but Graham and Liz were with us, happily). There was no spoken ministry, but Anne read Advices & Queries 29 & 30 - a gentle reminder to us of the particular giftedness & challenges that come from growing older. Afterwards, we had tea, and sampled

Four gathered at Hodge House for Meeting this morning. Ministry was offered on the variety & nature of the gifts of the spirit, & how these show themselves in the life of the community (from Paul's letter to the Romans). As usual, there was a chance to have a catch up & chat, over tea, afterwards.

No Quaker Meeting today; Damian joined the local worshippers at St Brynach, Nevern, Pembrokeshire (alongside Peter). A fascinating cultural experience, with a warm welcome from the gathered community. Good homily on forgiveness. Charles Widor supplied the organ recessional at the close of service.

A great gathering at Zikr this evening, with special devotions too, to celebrate the Prophet's birthday. Afterwards, as ever, shared food & fellowship.

We were four at Meeting; Liz & Margaret were not with us in person. There was no spoken ministry. We heard Advices & Queries 29 & 30, which resonate with us (as a group of older Friends). After Meeting, we spoke about our own arrangements for death, & enjoyed shared lunch & relaxed conversation.

Elders & Pastoral Friends met in Blackburn, to share how the spirit is prospering in our local Meetings & to explore some particular questions that Area Meeting had referred to us. After Meeting for Worship for Business, we had a simple shared lunch.

When we were talking after Meeting, it became apparent that only Anne (from those present) would be here on Sunday, next week. Not being confident of other Friends' health (they may be prevented), we thought it best not to meet in person, but that each would keep the quiet hour at home.

Four Friends gathered at Anne's home today (usual meeting room not available). Margaret & Liz were prevented. No spoken ministry was offered. Afterwards, there was quiet conversation, and cake.

One of the great things about living near to Pendle Hill is that you get the chance to accompany Friends on their pilgrim walks. Today I joined Anna (& well-wishers) who came to start her off on the pilgrim route through 1652 country, concluding at Swarthmore. Being sunny & Saturday meant busyness!
