Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

I honestly could talk a lot more and longer about lineart since B/W comics are one of my biggest passion ever, so if any of you have questions about it, plssss I'd love to answer :3c

140

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

and YES. The right brush can and will absolutely help. as you can see none of my lineart brushes are clean and untextured, which helps hide mistakes which would very clearly be visable with clean brushes (such as erasing mistakes which I also do with lineart brush)

130

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

And if after all that none of that works............ add the sketch in 19% opacity in a color of your choice on top and tadaa!!/hj

120

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

4. Treat the lineart like a sketch. This is a hard one to trick the mind NOT to switch into that "lineart mode" but once you got it, you got it! Be messy, play around, erase with the same tool, give yourself more freedom to add texture in the lines themselves!

130

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

3. Play with lineweight. Extrem thin lines here, thick lines there, thick start of a line going into thin, play around, have fun, see what you think looks good and translates the sketch better!

130

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

2. Do more lines then you think you need. It stop the "constant undo" hell, just draw one more line over it and it'll probably fix what looks off.... just maybe tho if not,-

130

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

1. Keep the imperfections from the sketch, there is a big chance you like the way a certain line of a sketch flows that would "bother" the "perfect" lineart, draw it anyways. (same with textures you added, you can translate those into lineart as well!)

120

Maro, Mysterious, Tovara @marotovara.de · 28/04/2026

Tipps from someone who LOVES doing lineart! things I do subconsciously already, leave or take it as you will (From 2023, aka how I make my lineart feel more right and lively) #lineart #bwart #outlines

A sketch of a bald headed character with a messy lineart next to it

The same bald head in a post from the original artist 87_G0D on X, with a lackluster lineart next to it
