CW sex Today's delightful discovery: The French name for sex while spooning is "the 99 position". fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/99_%28p... #wikipedia

99 (position sexuelle)

I had to reply to a Christian calling Pride month "a celebration of the deadliest sin" (i.e. pride) I thought I'd save it here for reference: There are two things called "pride". One of them is the opposite of humility: it's a form of idolatry, replacing God with the self. #pridemonth #pride

This is the monospace #font I made for the command line in the 1992 game Lord Avalot d'Argent. I've just converted it to OpenType under the name "Ordsall". I think it's a rather pleasing font, though it needs further cleaning up and many more glyphs. marnanel.org/projects/ord...

This has to be satire, right…? Oh wait, there are people who think "Hallelujah" is about Christmas. And that "Zombie" is about Halloween. And that "Every Breath You Take" is about cherishing a partner And that "The Keeper" is about shooting deer. And that "Blackbird" is about blackbirds. And…

Rest in peace and rise in glory. #pope #popefrancis #rip
“It's hypocrisy to call yourself a Christian and chase away a refugee or someone seeking help, someone who is hungry or thirsty, toss out someone who is in need of my help. If I say I am Christian, but do these things, I'm a hypocrite.” — Pope Francis, October 2016

Rest in peace and rise in glory.

Woodcut: “The Christ of the Breadlines”, Fritz Eichenberg, 1951. It shows seven people waiting in a queue for a foodbank. They are shown in profile, bundled up against the cold. The middle person in the queue has a halo, so bright it illuminates the other people and throws him into silhouette.

Weird thing: late last week, YouTube decided to show 80000 people a clip from "Soap" I uploaded three years ago. Almost as many views since then as in the decade before. It's even pushed me almost halfway to monetisation level (which shows you how difficult it is to get YouTube to pay people).

THE TOP LINE
by Marnanel Thurman

When people are selling
Political schemes,
The top line will tell you
The truth of their dreams:

If someone's first sentence
Is “most folk are fools,”
They're fixing to force them
To follow their rules;

If “riches from rags”
Is the first thing they say,
Their policy's planned
To make poverty stay;

And when “right of trade”
Is the first right you're told,
They're seeking a system
Where slaves can be sold.

THEY DON'T SAY EASTER ON THE FRONT ANY MORE, YOU KNOW
A mockup Easter egg package on a supermarket shelf. The egg, which is mostly visible, is made to look like a cooked gammon joint. Below the egg, the package says "Definitely says EASTER on the front". The brand is "Gammons", in the style of the Thorntons logo. A red star sticker says "NOT woke" in yellow. The weight, 150g ℮, has been crossed out and replaced with "5 oz".

AI will happily talk nonsense. Pasting an AI's answer as a reply is obvious, and makes you look a fool. I had someone pull this trick on me today. Hence the comic.
Three-panel comic.

Panel 1: a man in unadventurous clothing is online. Someone is saying "obviously the sun is hot", and he has replied "oh yeah?"

He types into a big computer labelled "Wild Guessing Machine (tm)"

Panel 2: The answer from the AI is:

"AI Overview: Yes, the sun is freezing cold. Reasons for this include:

* It's made of ice:

  * Actual scientists went there because they needed some ice for their gin and tonic.

  * The iceberg which was sunk by the Titanic went to the sun, because ice is magnetic.

  * Everyone likes snow days, so it stands to reason they would be at the centre of the solar system."

Panel 3: The man is typing the same text (it's connected to the same bubble). He adds "Checkmate, I feel."

Page 534: a lynx ("linx"). Like a wolf, except that its urine dries out into a kind of precious stone called "ligurius" (actually a kind of amber or tourmaline, I think). The lynx is aware that humans want its urine, and therefore buries it. We dig it up again.

A while back I created a font called Perverse Sans. It's a fork of Liberation Sans, with the addition of a glyph that looks identical to the word "won't". This glyph is a ligature for the four letters "will". The result is that any time the word "will" appears in this font, it displays as "won't".
