Say hello to Mr. John Wick! He was a smoll friend who passed away recently. Drew this for a friend. May John Wick climb all the vines of the afterlife, should it exist. #chameleons #markersketch #petportraitartist #lizardlove

Sketch of two men mid-walk, both looking down to the right as a rabbit hops into frame. They are caught mid conversation.

Chilling by the magical fire. Featuring Hitori and Cor, two of my OCs. Today is a Hitori and Cor day it seems! #munikiniverse #munikin #animeart #animationart #originalcharacter

Digital painting of a young long-haired boy reading a book while being cradled by a giant wolf beast with wings and horns. They are sitting very cozy together in a cave.

Fell off the post wagon a bit... maybe I'll post a few today to make up for it! My OCs Hitori and Cor in his shifted shape. Hitori is half human and half munikin, while Cor is an ayvion, a shapeshifting munikin~ #munikiniverse #fantasyartist #wolfdragon #animeart #mangaart #animationart

Oil painting of a griffin~ This is a very old piece. Inspired by Dianna Wynne Jones book the Dark Lord of Derkholm. So maybe it's fanart? #fantasyartist #griffin #oilpaintingoncanvas #traditionalartists

if you went to college 1. what was your career goal when you started? 2. your initial major? 3. if you changed majors, what did you change to? 4. what do you do now, professionally? 1. Animation 2. English literature and digital media 3. Dropped digital media (too expensive) 4. Technical writer

Question for the room!! If you sign up for a newsletter, what sorts of things do you like to see?

It takes me about 3 hours to convert a newsletter into a post. If it’s not getting any eyeballs anymore, I suppose it’s not worth doing. I could use those 3 hours to draw instead.

Hmm. My newsletter posts aren’t doing as well as they used to. Wonder if it’s algorithm related? Possibly, which is a shame!

One of my OCs from a made-up people called the munikin. She is a full-blooded ayvion munikin, which means she can shapeshift into that beastie shape. I gotta get going on the info website for these guys... #wolfdragon #originalcharacters #ocartwork #fantasyart #referencesheet #animationartwork

Reference sheet showing a young girl character in a green tunic beside a large wolf-dragon hybrid with wings and hand-like front paws. Her name is Shasta. She has black hair and a stylized braid with a little orange tuft on the end. There is a three-dot birthmark under her left eye. The wolf is her shapeshifted form, and it shares her eye color. Its cur is black and it has batlike wings. The birthmark appears under her left eye here as well.

I notice I tend to naturally gravitate towards vtubers who do crafting. Like, I see a person who crochets, knits, sews, scrapbook, makes jewelry, etc. and I'm just instantly like: 👁👄👁 I want to follow them and see what they make. I think it's cool to watch ppl handmake stuff.

Part 5 of ...5 whoops lol! So bad at counting... Monthly newsletter! Covers my November exploits. Includes my second bathroom renovation, along with the introduction of my bullet journal project! #diary #artjournal #journaling #november2024 #journal #monthlynewsletter

Preoccupations Small one this month. I’ve been using my bullet journal to list out to-do’s. Also attended the Digital Publishing Report conference in late November. The Author’s Guild put together some really interesting insights on how book sales are going at the moment. Most interesting bit to me was that self-published authors (who are full-time authors) actually earn more money over a 5-year period than traditionally published authors. In fact, traditionally published authors lose money over that same 5-year period. Some big factors for why full-time traditionally published authors lose money over the 5-year period while indie authors earn more are:

Indie authors are simply more invested in their work and push it harder in marketing efforts. Books come out less frequently for traditional publishers. It just takes longer to produce them. More books = more longevity and more success. More books also = more experience in publishing Another interesting insight that came out of the data presented was that authors who sign exclusivity contracts—such as with Amazon—earn less over time as well. My takeaways from this are: Publish more, publish often, and publish widely.

Indie Publishing So… long story short, I’ve also finally decided to go full into self-publishing a few stories for the learning experience. So just going to transcribe some of my bullet journal notes here: Working on outlines for three stories: Research tropes in them for marketing purposes Research comparative titles and integrate those into the outlines Integrate the creation process into vTuber video blogs Setup for sales:

Purchased three new domains. None are live yet! Need to code the new author website based on the Marley Nox resume website Need to make some updates to the Marley Nox resume website Make up some workflows/pipelines: Writing fiction Publishing fiction Publishing audiobooks Animation And… that’s it. Just drawings on the drawing board!

Video of my opening stinger for my YouTube Channel

I keep looking at my list of things to do and getting a little overwhelmed. It’s really just a lot of stuff. Breaking it down and thinking about ways to make it manageable is helpful. I’m still not setting deadlines for anything, but I’m starting to think I need to. So… we shall see.

Fundamentals of Lighting Schoolism Class After laying out my goals, I’ve started to re-evaluate what I need to work on education-wise. I’m thinking of changing it up to work on the expressive character class or the storyboarding. Expressive characters is winning out because I need to develop a shorthand for storyboard drawing, and I think learning how to draw expressively will help make developing a shorthand easier.

Might transfer the hourly stuff to my computer. I keep picking up the wrong pens and mixing up colors and such. We shall see. So now you know how I spend my time… mostly working! Though this month has been wind-down month as well, due to the holidays coming up.

Focus Time! Apsu’s Children Novella Addressed my outline again and made a 3rd draft. Got some feedback. And with the feedback, along with some market research, I’ve decided I need to do… more research, haha. I want to align the book more with the historical fantasy genre. And what’s currently popular there is myth retellings. So, I’m going to try leaning more into the myth of Apsu from ancient Mesopotamia. Which means I need to learn some more about him and ancient Mesopotamia. Oof, I never do myself favors do I? Ha.
