Updating CEF alone won't fix that issue, is there confirmation it is related?

The fair is in town but they're renovating the town hall (reopening July 2027!) so they had to squish it a bit more than usual. Heh.

Multi-line comments that are relatively equally aligned line break wise, some far too verbose for a real human to have written them. Human developers especially for throwaway projects like that usually don't bother commenting code to that degree.

Some new strings in Forever talking about in-game voice chat integration with Discord. Not sure if this is coming to Forever or if it is just Modern WoW stuff given the shared clients. We'll find out soon enough, maybe in a future 12.1.5 PTR build or with the release of the 12.1.7 PTR. Very neat!

Spoiler: marlam.in/u/telabimlea... There was this image many leak seasons ago that did the rounds of what appeared to be a Kul Tiran soldier (pre-BfA) moving a crate of Tel'Abim bananas. Wasn't mine, but it stuck around as kind of a meme.

Made this guy in Blender a bit ago for fun. Really simple composition but I think he's chill and it was nice to do something remotely creative again. Might use him in some upcoming stuff. Anyone* know what it is a reference to? (*Datamining server users barred from guessing)

It may run better/look fine for you, I wouldn't judge the quality of the overall game by the performance on just my PC. The story from what I did see looked interesting, at least.

Loved Control 1 and I'm sure I'd love this if it ran/looked better. Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future, but I could very well use that money for something else right now. <3 Remedy Entertainment, sorry.

Requested a refund for Control Resonant, first time I use that system but the performance just isn't there for me even though I'm above minimum requirements. Apparently you can fiddle with the settings but the render resolution was already noticeably lower as is. Game is too expensive for that.

Sarcasm aside, if you'd really want to change the landscape around spoiler culture/datamining for WoW: Forever you wouldn't be posting said spoilers even after it was mentioned elsewhere. Just admit it is your business model to spoil and own that, don't pretend otherwise. If it is not, simply stop.

Sorry guys, someone somewhere mentioned a thing they found in the Forever game files so now we're forced to spoil it too. We didn't want to write and make a whole news post about it, really. We're only doing this out of our well known journalistic integrity and would never post any spoilers first. 🙄

Very much agree here, I've had my taste of fame with past projects and it is most definitely not for me. Just let me obsess about my little obsessions and hopefully find like-minded people in the process, but I don't want my takes, rants and info dumps to 'break containment' beyond that.

One thing I will say is that there was another study recently that showed reading ability/comprehension has also gone down significantly in children. Correlation does not necessarily mean causation but if bigotry is going up while cognitive abilities are going down... just saying. 🤔

I still think the prices are pretty high, they should apply the "buy 1 for <special currency> and unlock ability to buy more with gold" thing here, imo.

Force redownloading everything by deleting the Data folder (or just getting rid of MoP Classic with high-res textures) helps for now, but with all the unused modern crud in 1.60 I feel like this issue is going to get more common.

My WoW install hit over 256GB in its Data/data folder a bit ago and Battle.net started constantly updating installs. Checked the index files and the files say that it should be able to go up to 1TB in theory, but that limit used to be 256GB. Wonder if something somewhere is still limited at that?

Marlamin @marlam.in · 20/09/2026
Yup. Feeling delves could be a great fit for initially exploring this without getting into dealing with rewards/player power. Won't be surprised if a variant that's a handful of delve maps with edit mode enabled in combination with showcases shows up at some point. Still a few steps to go, though.🙏

Marlamin @marlam.in · 20/09/2026
I truly hope they keep going down that path, both for the housing community as well as the wider WoW community. With the idea of "alternative" stories now also on the table with Forever, that opens up whole avenues of things they could explore together with UGC in the future. I hope they see that.

We are coming up on 1 year of WoW housing (I count testing) and the amount of creativity I've seen has surpassed all my expectations. So many talented artists out there and I can't wait to see whats made next. With housing, it feels like the Blizzard that is open to user-generated content is back.

This is still on my list too, I have it but just haven't started it yet. The short film and Jasika's performance are great, loved her in Fringe and glad to see she's still doing, well, Fringe stuff.

As for console support, they do have an API now to detect if WoW is being run on a handheld platform, so the Rog Ally X is likely the kind of console they'd initially be aiming for (and future Xbox PC-based consoles/handhelds by extension given they run the same OS).

Yeah, in terms of UIs Retail has many more complexities they'd have to support, so that'll probably not come anytime soon. I think it is like most Forever features, they'll see how it goes and then expand it to Retail if they deem it worth it. That said, hope some of it is in 12.1.7 for Talebound.
100
Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
IDK, they like keeping their Interface code shared and the amount of things they had to do for controller support touches on a lot of things. At the very least we'll likely see the APIs and improvements to the existing controller support coming over, even if e.g. the frontend changes are left out.

Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
There are a LOT of non-Forever assets in here and I really hope they clean up the build before launch as this is going to waste a bunch of disk space/download size. Not all of it is shared with Retail as almost all 11.1+ files are different versions compared to what is currently live.
040
Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
Based on some further detective work looking at which versions of files are in WoW Forever/1.60.1, I'm guessing that the latest branch-wide 'content' snapshot that it is based on was taken around January 2025. The version of Undermine is similar to what PTR started with and K'aresh is almost done.
140
Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
This is definitely true, but this is arguably worse. Changing course and going back on something that was said isn't necessary a failure and the community should learn that. WoW is a live service game (games?) and pretending things don't and shouldn't change is not something the community should do.
010
Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
They don't want to commit to anything yet because the Retail team rarely does and when they do they talk about it only right before it ships. I wouldn't be surprised if they're already working on it, maybe we'll even see it used in e.g. Northrend. One can hope.
010
Marlamin @marlam.in · 18/09/2026
It's both. What they meant in that interview is that it's new tech for the shared engine + it is hand crafted fog volumes, water flow and lighting tweaks and that it isn't just flipping a switch, but that it requires them to author these things for Retail as well (which has much larger world(s)).
210
Marlamin @marlam.in · 17/09/2026
Another problem is BlizzCon interviews, which for some reason get scheduled before/during the announcements, so they aren't as useful as they could be and largely repeat what we already know. Anyways, I'll go into this more in the BlizzCon blog post coming at some point after things calm down.
0150
Marlamin @marlam.in · 17/09/2026
Not my usual positive post, but I think the Retail team need to adjust their PR strategy a little. Not only was the Q&A almost entirely a regurgitation of what was already answered, but the style of not actually answering the questions needs a fix (surprised some were even asked, props to Kaivax).
2352
Marlamin @marlam.in · 17/09/2026
I don't think that's necessarily the case, there's plenty devs including e.g. Maria that are more... forthcoming and willing to outright say stuff even if they adjust course later. It feels like game directors are more prone to not give answers, so maybe they shouldn't be in the foreground as much.
