Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 03/05/2026I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one for almost a year and a half: Sauron, the Dark Lord. From Magic, the Gathering’s The Hobbit expansion. Oil on gessoed watercolor paper, about 18 inches by 21 inches. #magicthegathering #thehobbit 615232
Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 13/04/2026Bookending the last post with a Magic the Gathering piece I did several years ago: Consecrated Sphinx. Because it too, was a nod to a 1970’s album cover . A band named Rush, an artist named Eraldo Carugati. 😊 59025
Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 03/04/2026Fresh from the new Magic the Gathering set #Strixhaven: Silverquill, the Disputant. My age-old habits of staring into the depths of 1970's album covers shows in this one, too – inspiration from the art of Dave McMacken on the Leftoverture album cover. 08026
Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 09/02/2026A recently-delivered commission. My client wanted to see “Serra Angel” in battle, so I dove into Magic the Gathering lore and came up with the Terisiaran revolt against the Sheoltun empire for context. Also a possible clue as to why there are so few muskets employed in Dominaria… #SerraAngel 1243
Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 07/02/2026Another dainty from Magic the Gathering’s ‘Lorwyn Eclipsed’: Scuzzback Scrounger. I just make them, I don’t name them! Oil paint on gessoed watercolor paper, just sold. #LorwynEclipsed 091
Mark Zug @markzug.bsky.social · 06/01/2026A couple of my pieces just released on #magicthegathering cards, from #lorwyneclipsed. 2164
