They haven't cancelled/postponed tonight's Subaru 4 Mile Chase yet and I certainly don't feel good about running a hard effort race with this air.

An air quality alert remains in effect for all of WNY with levels considered very unhealthy
due to smoke from the wildfires in Canada. New York State and local officials are cautioning
about health risks for individuals outdoors and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz has
ordered all employees who normally work outdoors to return to indoor worksites for the
remainder of the day. Sporting events and outdoor activities throughout the region have
been canceled for today. The 44th running of the Buffalo Subaru Challenge is scheduled
for tomorrow evening at 7pm. Erie County Medical Center officials will continue to monitor
conditions with our New York State and Erie County Health Department colleagues. While
air quality conditions are expected to improve later tomorrow, the safety and wellbeing of the
over 1000 participants and volunteers remains our top priority. We will continue to keep you
updated and reach out immediately through email, text and social media should air quality
levels force a change in tomorrow evening's plans.
