In the Scriptorium today, the scribes have found a recipe for crunchy egg salad bagels. The secret? Leave bits of egg shell in.

An article from Apple News for crunchy egg salad bagels. The picture shows a heap of egg salad with finely chopped onions and chives on top of a beefsteak tomato, which in turn is resting on top of half a toasted bagel. The whole lot is sitting on a white plate. To be fair, it does look quite nice, but it’s the crunchy egg part that puts me off. It sounds like it has bits of egg shell in it.

In the Scriptorium today, the scribes have come up with an idea for 100% human written, non-AI generated literature. They call the flat white sheet “parchment” and the black fluid “ink”. The thing they use to apply the latter to the former is a “quill”. They hope the idea catches on.

Have dusted off my astronomy kit for the eclipse later. Removed large telescope from mount (too heavy to haul around) and fitted guide scope instead. Mylar (solar) filter checked for pinpricks (none). Camera adapters adapted. Power supply TBC. Wish me luck. I haven’t done this in a while.

Not that anyone has asked, but here's a writing update for you. I think I can safely say that "Pass The Duchy" is about as finished as I can get it. "The Flipside Of Somewhen" is resting, having been heavily rewritten and edited to death. "All Steamed Up" is getting to the end of its editing.

In the Scriptorium today, the scribes have been inspecting the results of #NoMowMay. The two spotted orchid #lawnflowers that turned up in the first year have self-seeded and are now four plants. It just shows what nature can do if you leave it alone.

These have been suspended from the sycamore tree and are currently being shot at to make holes for the water to come out. Alexa has asked why they don’t bodge holes in them with a screwdriver, to which the scribes have replied, “Where’s the fun in that?”

I'm glad to say the developmental edit of "All Steamed Up" is complete. The opening is much tighter now that a whole bunch of stuff got cut. Several darlings were murdered, and many more severely injured. Now I can turn to copy editing and re-reading the whole thing again for the umpteenth time.
