I used Xcode 27's new localization feature to translate MindNode into Ukrainian! 🇺🇦 Do any Ukrainian speakers here have a few minutes to try a test build? I'd love your feedback on whether the translations feel natural and make sense. 💙💛

Happy last 30+ degree day in Austria! Autumn is finally on its way. 😊

MindNode 2026.5 with MCP support is now available. Blog: www.mindnode.com/blog/2026.5 Release Notes: www.mindnode.com/releases/2026.5 I used it heavily recently to localize sample documents for screenshots Apple requested 😅

After last week with 36-39 degrees in Vienna, we are now in Tyrol with 20 degrees and light rain 🥰 (Before we had the usual drama with our 16 year old cats with last minute visit to vet clinic 😒. Both are stable at the moment. )

Today I shared a bit of MindNode's story at Apple's WWDC recap event in Berlin, looking back at how we've approached adopting new Apple technologies over the past 18 years. Thanks to everyone who came up to chat afterward. And it was great seeing so many familiar faces again.

Our next feature update is shipping at the end of the month and it will make studying with MindNode much easier: LaTeX Formulas are coming 😊

A mind map titled "LaTeX Formulas" with branches showing math equations and proofs, and an open equation editor displaying the LaTeX source and rendered preview of a cross-entropy loss formula.

Radial layouts are really hard. We first tried them 12 years ago and we are finally shipping them with the next update. Together with tapered branches and circular node shapes. Want to help us refine it? It's now available in beta: www.mindnode.com/beta

And we finally have support for folder. Probably our most requested feature since we shipped MindNode Next. At the moment we have a flat folder hierarchy, but I guess we will get many requests for sub-folders.😀

Flexible Layout is our replacement for Manual Layout. When dragging a node from its position, it gets positioned with an offset from its original position. All attached sub-nodes will continue to use automatic layout. A shadow indicates when the node would snap back to an automatic position.

Dynamic Themes is something we have wanted to do for a very long time, but our old code base had too many constraints. Now that we no longer hard-code everything, this was finally possible to do. (I also really like the little animation @myell0w.bsky.social added when switching theme appearance)

I purchased new skis yesterday. Went with the Head Supershape e-speed 170cm. It has a 14m radius so perfect for the current snow conditions. The ski is also surprising good on long carving turns.

We are planning to ship our first Apple Intelligence features next week. For example you can now ask Siri about the content of your document and get a summary. Will be interesting if this sees adoption.

With MindNode Next we are getting serious about Shortcuts app support. There is now an app intent to access all your nodes, from all your MindNode Next documents. In my case it returns 18.281 nodes. (Make sure you are on 2024.4 or later)

Markus Müller-Simhofer @markusms.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

We are also getting serious about App Intents. We are starting with a limited numbers, but it's now possible to change the content of a document. (Disclaimer: it's a bit slow right now if you have many documents, a fix is shipping next week.)

The version we are shipping today is not feature complete compared to MindNode Classic. We plan to bring most features over and plan to update them at the same time. For example in Next we have a new Tag UI.

A new chapter begins for MindNode today. Next is a departure from our current app that will help us move the app forward in a big way. Documents are stored in CloudKit and synced with our syncing engine. Collaboration is enhanced by an end-2-end encrypted backend that allows working in real-time.
