I first read it as a kid and just found it incredibly cool. Then as the years went by, the more of her I read, the more the philosophical depth of her work dawned on me. It’s perfect science fiction.

this reminds me of a horror movie concept my partner and i came up with. it’s set on a ship that does a daily roll call, and instead of crew mysteriously disappearing every night etc (expected horror), it increases in size every day (way horrorier)
