Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 12hSitting in an arbitration panel today. My local courts are banning pervert glasses😝🤭 Good job! #tech 081
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 17hEven a few decades ago, it was hard. I always wanted to be a journalist. I did publish a couple of articles. But then I saw what starting journalism jobs paid in my area. I applied &was accepted into law school. 😜 It is far worse today. Media has tons of problems, including its owners. 020
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 18hAge has conferred more nuance and elegance. It's more ready to roll than ever, but plenty of time left. That's not even an issue. 13%, under $100 then. You don't want to know now. #Bordeaux #wine 030
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 18hBordeaux week rolls on! Another oldie, very different than the Ch. Latour (Monday's post) with which it was drunk. A little weightier, a little meatier, but not as silky, as unctuous or as classic, in a lot of ways. It still showed great and again showed how Bordeaux seems to age so effortlessly. 4161
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 19hThey do some things well. However. Roast beef and corned beef are mid at best, and that's generous. Really, they make me go to the local deli instead for something that's actually good. 000
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 29/09/2026Whipping the Eagles at this point in the season does not make the Bears special. 020
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026I guess they are following up on their success in Brexit. 110
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026How many commercials has Chris made about Sununu wanting to impose work requirements on Social Security? I hope it's a lot. 040

Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026Everyday, and twice on Sunday. Expect a new announcement constantly. By the time the midterms arrive, the United States will be the sole owner of the entire hemisphere. 000
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026So true. The scandals come so quickly you can barely concentrate on one before another one arrives. It is a day that ends in "y," so it is yet another "WTF" day. 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026I think he would sell anything or anyone if he thought he could make some money out of it. 120
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026One of my favorites, I have photographed it myself many times 020
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026Indeed. It does tell me a lot. 😛😜😝 But trust me, Phillies fans have a lot of scars too 000
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026I know I'm not. That's why I maintained a cellar starting decades ago. I could age all those wines and drink them NOW. I'm sure not starting over again. I probably don't have another 30 or 40 years to wait. 🫡🤭😝 020
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026Nah, this was pre-planned. We had Goodbye to Summer week. Now, it's Hello to Bordeaux week. 😇 And after the way they backed in, it's hard to celebrate. Not to mention, it seems likely to just lead to getting crushed by ATL. And P.s.: Phils aren't getting near-40 year 1st unless they win the WS.😆 100
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026But subtle unctuousness to the fruit as it washed over tongue. Call it a hint of youth. Add classics like slate & cigar box to go with cassis. By no means just old. Liked it a lot. Beautiful. Even had star power. Listed, 12.5%. Original price, $90. If you have to ask now, we can't afford it. 😁 150
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026Reasonable fill at this age. Some ullage, but it's still well above the bottom of the neck. It was perfectly stored, too. The cork did show an inch or so of saturation, but this had very good color and seemed silky-fresh for its age. There were tertiary notes on the nose and palate, as expected. 180
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 28/09/2026By reputation, '89 isn't a superstar Latour, but I always thought a lot of '89s were underestimated as some were hard in their youth (more so on the Left Bank by my own aging recollection) and took more time to unfold. Still, if not ready now, not gonna be. #wine #bordeaux #pauillac 1120
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026He is always one of the guys I like to root for, but he just seems washed. I guess resigning him wasn't such a bad idea, though, considering the Phillies haven't got anything else cooking. 010

Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026This "let's start Nola" on 2 days rest has a very Gene Mauch and 1964 feel to it, doesn't it? Reeks of desperation, a team without sufficient resources that isn't gonna scare anyone even if they get in. Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026Run the ball. Stop the run. Can the Eagles do either--in this game, or the season as a whole? 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026A few years ago, the owner of a cidery I liked made a perry I liked. She casually said, "You know, pears and apples are almost the same fruit." The Earth moved. 030
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026I like shorter seasons. More is not always more. Too many long seasons were endless filler, no arcs. I prefer things that are tighter and more focused, that have a related point That said, the problem these days is that they have 10 episodes, a cliffhanger and then wait two years for a new season 😳 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026Really. I shouldn't have been so flipping. This is going to cause a lot of damage. 130
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026At least these folks decided to have fun. I guess there's a good side to the street turning into a river. 🤦 120
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 27/09/2026Phila is fortunately inland a bit. But the New Jersey shore, a little more than an hour away, these are the videos we're getting..... Happily, that is not what it's like in my city. But I was having friends coming in for dinner from New Jersey tomorrow 😈 Maybe. 230
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 26/09/2026His own popularity isn't the only issue. His own party doesn't have a whole lot of the vote (23%, in the last legislative election). He has a coalition, and smaller parties have tended to keep him in power. They aren't giving up power easily. 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 26/09/2026GOP believes its own lies! Didn't AZ do something like this a decade ago? Big claims of vast numbers of illegal voters. Then, every time they did a review of the flagged, they were cleared. By the final review the illegal claim was so small--after being in 5 figures--they just gave up and stopped. 0101
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026Yawn. They are labels. I wouldn't have thought anything incredibly special about them. 110
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026Would be interesting to know which advisors. Reports had Vance recommending declaring martial law in Minnesota. It would be interesting to know if he is recommending this now. Stephen Miller, definitely. Nothing is going to get in the way of his white supremacist Purge. 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026This is a little long in tooth. Saw this last year for the first time. I was amazed at how many producers I know looked so young!😇 010
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026Hilarious. The only reason the Republican party has survived is because of their ability to divert attention from their awful policies (like collapsing the economy, destroying healthcare, attacking other countries for no reason) by culture War distractions like DEI, Trans, CRT, etc. 000
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026A few years ago didn't AZ do something like this? They went through several reviews and started with some fantastical number of how many illegals were on the rolls. Every time they completed a review, the number shrank. Is it that the GOP lies so often, they begin to believe their own lies? 000
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026He is always smirking and scowling. He thinks that makes him look strong? I think it makes him look like a really disgusting person. 1100
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026In these days of climate control indoors, pretty much anything can be anything. But I would personally prefer those outside on the porch in summer.😝😈 020
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026No question. Those are winter weight whites, especially as oaked! I had to laugh a few years back when someone introduced me to their first oaked Rosé and said it was a "winter weight" all-year-round food-wine pink. 110
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026Jerry must be cancelled. There is no other solution. Unless, of course, the Maxwell House cancels him first. 141
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026BTW, on back label pic, note recommendation of decanting. I often discussed that with Assyrtiko producers. It's not unique to Assyrtiko--I find it true of young, new Rieslings too, esp w/sugar. They were hard to evaluate when young. Taste the next day or decant. At this age, just needed some air. 030
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026The proof is in the pudding, or rather the aging. The color is a bit darker, but this seems prime time with a burnished overlay. It lingers on the finish with a little salt and tension, a fine success. 14%. New vintages may be pushing up around $100 these days. #wine #greece #santorini #assyrtiko 140
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026This single-vineyard Assyrtiko is my favorite Sigalas brand, although it's close. They've held well from the debut. This '13 is crisp with a hint of lemon and a demeanor initially focusing on finesse. That can cause it to be underestimated. As it airs and warms, it coats the palate, then fleshes out 140
Mark Squires @marksquires.com · 25/09/2026My "Goodbye to Summer" week marches on. Flannel sheets on.Bordeaux standing up. BUT still time for wine with a summer hint or two. Of course, Santorini produces whites with depth that work all year round, but who isn't thinking about the sun and sea now, huh? You're welcome! #wine #greece #santorini 3201
