Evening sun shining next to the forested hilltop horizon across the valley and to the rocky side of the pillar at Pillar Lake, a natural hoodoo tower of conglomerate rocks resulting from the large boulder on its top, which prevented erosion of the sediment beneath. A couple of spots of light can be seen just beneath the boulder, as erosion is beginning to separate it from the pillar.

Water saturating the lakebed trickles into the lake, eroding little dendritic rivulets by the edge after emerging seemingly from nowhere, in some places exposing gravel underneath the silt.
