An hour outside Ascot on Gold Cup Day is more than enough for one year. A camera-shy David Sullivan, some plucky animal rights campaigners - 56 horse racing deaths at Ascot since 13/7/2007 - & the usual parade of finery or the grotesque depending on your view. www.markkerrison.com/portfolio/G0...

9 years after the Grenfell Tower fire, some bereaved & survivors remain so traumatised by lack of action against those responsible for the deaths of the 72 that they feel unable to attend the Silent Walk. Everyone should be there to stand with and for them. www.markkerrison.com/portfolio/G0...

Tonight my thoughts are with the twelve brave souls on board the Madleen. Aid workers, journalists, campaigners & a MEP. All non-violent, all on the Madleen only because our governments have failed to act to prevent a genocide & are now failing to provide aid to a population being starved in Gaza.

New armoured trucks trialled by the Met Police are Israeli Plasan SandCats, widely used by Israel in Occupied Palestine. Plasan supplied c. 700 before Israel invaded Gaza in 10/23, where it has since committed war crimes, crimes against humanity & acts of genocide. So many ethical questions arise.

Winding down in preparation for surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation, I today very much enjoyed a quiet couple of hours browsing Colin Wilkinson's magnificent 'Coal Faces', a fitting photographic epitaph to the British coal mining industry. Available at: www.imageandreality.co.uk/store/p/coal...

Thank you to Mick Lynch, the outgoing General Secretary of the RMT union, for having shown our politicians that it is possible to provide well-argued and informative straight answers to all journalists' questions (and also for having rinsed those unwise journalists who tried to pull a stunt on him).
