Yup! Some of them. Not everything is “inquiry based” like BTC would like, but the basic premise is from those book principles. Inquiry would be like how I might introduce vocab in context at boards as opposed to giving definitions, having students figure out comma rules from example sentences, etc.

Actual white boards are obvs pricey, so shower boards from Home Depot or Lowe’s work well. That’s what I used there. Duct tape border. Hung with command strips. Still solid after two years. I imagine I will need to replace at some point.

I have these white boards in my classroom along the walls (as well as a couple bigger ones in the back and front of the room). So, I have eight groups of white boards. I’ll do a lot of activities at the board. An example there is choose important words from opening OM&M, write mood, and draw it.

I do a lot with vertical white boards and random grouping.

Devyn Simone from “The Challenge” universe is allegedly going to be on the next season of “Real Housewives of New York”. That shit looks fucking terrible, but I’ll be damned if I’m not going to see what Devyn is up to after knowing her as a reality tv character for nearly 20 years.

Listening to “The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Life After AI” by Cory Doctorow. He explains how tech companies NEED us to believe in the inevitability of AI due to their wonky financial accounting and growth models. NCTE has fed this lie to teachers. We are being manipulated to help fund billionaires.

Wow, that’s upsetting. They had a great mission and delicious food :(

I want this to be one of the first things we read in AP Lit next year. A good reminder to read the damn book.

It’s crazy how much power we’ve given a for profit company with regards to what we do in education. The exam is easier. Like full stop. Essentially, teachers just need to create a rigorous course themselves. Exam comes secondary.

Really enjoyed this conversation. I’ve definitely fallen into the trap of wanting students to enjoy reading. I wonder if it’d be worth throwing in a more classic choice next year. I base my novel units a lot around Roberts “A Novel Approach.” I really think 3 wks is that sweet spot for reading.

Sorry that the dystopian world you created is closer to becoming a reality again in these next 4 years. The scary thing is how quickly the targets change and how much ire can be created.

It’s hard to maintain my own attention during 90 minutes. I’m also not a huge fan. 60 minutes is ideal.

I just will never understand what the traitors were doing by killing Dorinda. She’s a chaotic drunk. That’s the kind of energy you want in the round table when you’re a traitor. Carolyn knew it. Wish she knew how to speak. #thetraitors #TheTraitorsUS

New age survivor focuses more on character backstories. It makes it harder to have those real cutthroat moments that earlier seasons had. Last season was good, but it’s just different. In some ways, it was a little predictable. You often knew what would happen each episode. Carolyn=robbed imo

So, it’s been obvious that Mauricio has been cheating on Kyle since LVP gave that magazine to Brandi on vacation about it, right? This separation was years in the making. I just hope they’re still filming BH Housewives. Turn the cameras on like they did for Vanderpump, Bravo!

Why are there no posts on blue sky’s what’s hot feed about Kyle Richards from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills separating with her husband, Mauricio? Don’t people on Bluesky care about fake housewives bullshit?

Are you working on a memoir? I imagine there’s a place for your story. I think a voice that mixes comedy, science, and really going through hardship in the age of social media could be really interesting!

Didn’t realize how much MTV’s The Challenge took from American Gladiators until watching “Muscles & Mayhem” on Netflix. There’s definitely an enduring appeal of watching people engage in brutal physical feats.

“A book is a resting place for the memories of people who have lived before. A way for the memory to stay fixed after the soul has traveled on.” From “Cloud Cuckoo Land” by Anthony Doerr. A solid reason to be against book bannings.

“Memory is a game that a healthy brained person can play all the time, and the game of memory is won or lost on one criterion: Do you leave the formation of memories to happenstance, or do you decide to remember?” (Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Zevin). Always decide to remember the good!
