A rare photo of my without facial hair. #art #photography #writing #editing
A reflection of myself in the window of an empty business. The inside of the space is visible to the left, but it looks like a mess. To the right is the street behind me, which is green, speckled with fallen leaves and a big, ugly car. I look more like a ghost moving through the scene. My face is obscured by shadows.

Another entry in my Slasher and Satan Halloween viewing: The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Buffoon cop antics and genuinely harrowing murders. Glad to have finally seen it. May not watch it again. #art #horror #filmsky #halloween #slashers #horrorcommunity
Box art for “The Town That Dreaded Sundown.” A banner at the top informs us that this is from the “Slasher Classics Collection.” It appears to be rated “15,” so I guess this was a UK release. The art is a painted image of the Phantom Killer with that white sack over his head, looming over a small Texas town as the orange sun sets.

My favorite thing about The Rocky Horror Picture Show is how, just when you think it couldn’t possibly get any stranger, Tim Curry arrives and takes over. I wrote about it on my blog. Except pictured below. #art #filmsky #writing #timcurry
An excerpt from my blog “Why I Love Tim Curry:”

The trajectory of the movie changes. Curry grabs the audience and says, "Pay attention to me now, my darlings." And he completely takes over the narrative. This isn't Brad and Janet's story anymore- this is The Dr. Frank-N-Furter Picture Show now, babies, and he's going to make you love him.”

A paragraph from the editorial section of issue #5 of this current incarnation of the comics magazine Heavy Metal:

“In an era where comic book culture has been "sanitized" by massive corporate cinematic universes, Heavy Metal remains essential because it is unapologetically adult, messy, and experimental. Let's face it, we live in a world of digital algorithms, social media, and A.l.-curated content. The
"hand-picked chaos" of a magazine like Heavy Metal is generated by
HUMANS! It is a necessary antidote to the predictable, computerized content you may get from an aggregating app or orchestrated streaming service.
And we do it for no other reason than to blow your mind!”

A scene from the 1985 film Legend directed by Ridley Scott. We see a very wide shot of one of the rooms in Darkness’ castle. There are enormous pillars rising from the floor. In person, Wes Craven is soft-spoken, thoughtful, articulate. His style seems more of the academic world than of Hollywood; it's not too much of a stretch to imagine him as a member of the distinguished faculty of H. P. Lovecraft's Miskatonic University, teaching nineteenth-century literature (one of his passions) to eager young Herbert West wannabes.
