Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 04/10/2026One of the many confusing elements of the Napoleonic wars - the Ausrians have a Regiment named Wurttemburg, while Wurttemburg is fighting on the other side. Let's leave aside the various Hessen-Homburg regiments, none of which were Hessian. 020
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 04/10/2026The beauty of 6mm wargaming. Alexander's Macedonians face wave after wave of Persian Cavalry. Impetus rules. A fairly equal mix of Bacchus and Rapier miniatures. 0130
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 03/10/2026There's IR38 Wurttemburg, though it was disbanded after the Wagram campaign. 141
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 29/09/2026For me, it's not about whether I agree with every point of detail (I don't), but about the fact that it's a serious attempt to address the challenges we face. It had vision, purpose, and heart. I believe it will be more consequential than anything we've see in a long, long time. 120
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Who says that decades of obessessive nerdery doesn't pay dividends? 040
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Well this is my collection of painted figures. It would only take 25 such collections to hit a million. Even if this isn't typical, I can only imagine there are at least tens of millions out there. 141
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 18/08/2026This was a great episode. James is a thoughtful and articulate speaker. I still have his Age of Arthur supplement and Midgard is fantastic. Thanks for doing what you do Ken, it's such an engaging podcast. 110
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 24/07/2026Pendraken and WA mix perfectly. You can put them in the same unit, no problem at all. 110

Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 19/07/2026Well, they're good at passing. They're rubbish at putting the round thing in the netty thing which, some would argue, is the entire point of the game. 100
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 19/07/2026In a parallel universe this would be the 3rd/4th play-off it deserves to be. *These* are the two best teams in the world??? 000
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 15/07/2026You should have been Number 1, but hey ho, pip and dandy. 010

Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 10/07/2026I concluded almost 30 years ago that Buffy was the greatest television series ever made. And I still think that. No apologies. 030
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 10/07/2026He obviously didn't pay the "not getting sucked out of a window" surcharge. 000

Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 10/07/2026I cannot improve upon this. Put me down for Buffy too. 120
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I'm going to go out on a limb and guess she didn't mean in a "love thy neighbour" way. It's like having our own mini Alabama on the North Sea coast 🤑 000
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 09/07/2026I don't want to be harsh, but Clacton is getting exactly what it deserves. 31000
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 09/07/2026Actually it's a bit like the history of warfare, where tactical innovations keep swaying the balance between offensive and defensive. I guess football's just in one of those phases where offensive tactics are on top. 020
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 07/07/2026Maybe it's time to put Rory Stewart in a white suit and send him to Clacton 011
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Yeah but look at all those penalties he saved in the shoot ou.... Oh! 010
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 02/07/2026Age of Hannibal might be a good bet. Very simple rules but give a pretty good game. You can buy the pdf from Little Wars TV, if memory serves me right. 010

Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/05/2026Case in point. Reform won Portsmouth (Charles Dickens) with 30% of the vote, while Labour, Lib Dem, and Green shared *65%* of the vote between them. 000

Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 23/04/2026Hi @antoniabance.bsky.social , nice to meet you in person on the doorstep in Coseley today. 120
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/04/2026I did actually consider doing that myself. I agonised for ages, but I decided to commit to Midgard in the end, as it suited the vibe of my Mediaeval imagi-nations world. Would work for Impetus too 🙂 040
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/04/2026Definitely another good option, especially since 40mm strips seem fairly standard. The Warmaster influence, presumably. 140
Mark Furnival @markfrnvl.bsky.social · 08/04/2026I agree with this. I'm using 10mm armies on 60mm bases, and they work well. Extra advantage: you can use the Midgard measuring sticks, because they increment just as well for 60mm as 120mm 130
