Local FLGS Elm City Games celebrated their 10th anniversary. Spent the day there running a drop-in drop-out Shadowdark gauntlet open table and it was a blast! Had up to 7 players at a time and taught the game to a lot of people!

Back to the Mythic Bastionland well. Working to grow as a GM and resisting the temptation to just turn it into a different kind of D&D.

I link the Atlantic article I reference in the Substack, but I'll also put it in the second half of the post for easy reference.

Overheard today at the Verizon Store: Sales Associate: "Can I get your e-mail address?" Older Customer: "I don't have e-mail." SA: "Oh, uh ..." starts to mention ways to get past not having an e-mail address. OC: "I don't have e-mail. But I do have G-mail, will that work?"

Logan’s Run needs a sequel where people who had their food, shelter, clothing, child bearing and parenting, etc. done for them - suddenly getting “freedom” from AI never knowing anything more than recreation and pleasure. It's a “that happy ending isn’t as happy as you think” kind of film.

NPC meant to throw a PC into a hot spring filled with dangerous creatures. He got advantage on the check. This was his roll.

Going to be honest, I backed #1 with a "Whatever. It's not expensive, why not?" approach. But it really blew me away! Definitely an "under the radar" Shadowdark zine. Very much looking forward to #2.

I've got no issue with Critical Role or D&D 5e. But regardless, this was maybe the best and most intense AP I've ever watched. (And shorter than a season of CR).

I'm convinced there's an annual conference where all the people in charge of writing up start-player rules for boardgames, and all the designers responsible for renaming the GM in every new ttrpg get together to plan out how they're going to re-reinvent the wheel for the coming year.

I backed the Kickstarter for "Witch Lords of Skull Mountain" and it arrived a couple weeks ago ... but I'll be honest, I hadn't heard much buzz about it so I didn't put a priority on reading it. But now that I am ... this thing is just packed with lots of great little flavorful adventures!

That feeling when you find a creator who you'd normally agree with 100%, but you can't watch/read/listen to their work because they're such an asshole about it. #OSRProblems (follow up: If you have to advertise that your work is free from BS, it's probably 100% BS).
