Smishing (SMS x phishing) is a cyberattack that uses deceptive texts Smishers pretend to be banks, delivery companies or government agencies. Their texts demand urgent action. They send a web link to a fake login page ... designed to steal data or install malware #scams #scam #frauds #fraud #texts

In grandparent scams, impersonators convince elderly people a grandchild is hurt, arrested or in serious trouble and they must pay now for the child’s safety. Voices can be faked, so protect yourself. Verify stories. Ask personal questions only your grandkid would know. #fraud #frauds #scam #scams

On trial in Toronto this week, Aiden Pleterski pled not guilty to a Ponzi fraud where $ from new investors was used to pay out earlier ones. The 20‑something also used the $ for luxury cars, a waterfront mansion & private‑jet travel. Now he can't afford a lawyer #fraud #frauds #scams #scam #toronto
