Spain makes no sense being so low. With all the solar power it is generating and low electricity prices why are EVs lagging so badly?

Big Oil remains the most significant obstacle to reducing emissions and limiting climate harms. It’s important to understand the long history of that.

Barclays and HSBC are climate criminals, financing coal oil and gas and ignoring the climate crisis. If you bank with them then its easy to move your money to a more ethical alternative using the current account switch service. www.currentaccountswitch.co.uk

Why does it have to be down to what economists think anyway. How about asking a psychologist whether rent controls would have a positive effect on the mental health of millions of people.

MORE CHICKEN. SAME OLD SH💩T. The Government wants to expand intensive poultry farming. Their plan for all the extra waste? Good question.. 🤔 So we’ve been outside on the streets with a simple message: 📢 Serious about cleaning up our rivers? STOP the expansion of Big Chicken.

Would it make sense to ban the construction of new houses and infrastructure on land which is subject to a >1 in 10 year flooding risk by 2050; and if it would, will you?

The problem with that alternative is that it will be twisted to imply that the problem is those countries with higher birth rates, not the developed countries with their (broadly) stable populations.

If right those projections would spell death for the US car industry. The next president surely has to reverse Trumps desperate push to stay in the 20th century.

Almost no mention anywhere that the 1877/78 El Niño killed ~50 million people, over 3% of the world population at the time. Acknowledging how much better prepared the world would be now, it's still probable that the number this time will be well above that 0.5 million.

Just finished reading Food Fight by @stuartgillespie.bsky.social . It's fascinating to see how exactly the same corporate tactics operate in the food world as with respect to climate change. Corporate capture of governments, spreading doubt on science, profits before people etc.
Cover of the book Food Fight by Stuart Gillespie.

Statistically it makes more sense for you to do dangerous things the older you get. The chances of dying in a skydiving accident for example are the same whatever age you are. But that's a much higher percentage increase for someone who is 30, compared to if you're 70.

This wouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has ever worked in the investment industry. I've been to numerous presentations where management have explained the bottom line benefit of a takeover. I can't ever remember hearing mention of any of those cost savings being passed through to customers.

But renewables are too expensive according to the muppets in the Tory and Reform parties. #Rosebank and Jackdaw will do nothing to change this. We need more renewables and greater electrification.

What would be appropriately ambitious is a 10 year phase-out of all fossil fuel use. What is not ambitious is addressing the consequences rather than the causes.
