Remember '90s duo Damian Dame? Before she was Deah Dame, Debra Hurd was a solo artist with her govt name! The LP didn't make the biggest splash, but became sought after as a collectors album with CRAZY aftermarket prices. It's now getting a purple vinyl reissue: interscope.com/products/deb...

I tried to stay indifferent to Fred Hammond for years, but there songs of his that even *I* couldn't deny. He got me when he started folding R&B into his gospel songs like "That Ain't Nothin'," "Lord We Need Your Love," "Loved On Me," "More of You," "That's Why," and "Celebrate (He Lives)."

Album cover of Fred Hammond's Somethin' Bout Love album featuring him holding a bass guitar's neck close to his face with closed eyes.

On the album cover of Fred Hammond & Radical for Christ's Pages of Life, Chapters I & II, a close-up of Hammond's face in yellow and sepia tones is overlaid with scrawled handwriting lending an introspective feel to the gospel artist's artwork.

Album cover of Fred Hammond's Speak Those Things: POL Chapter 3 featuring him sitting on the step of a warehouse's entrance in an industrial neighborhood with his name and album title printed on the side of the building in subtle perspective.

On the cover of Fred Hammond's Free to Worship album, he stands among foliage against a bright blue sky, wearing a striking red suit while donning shoulder length dreadlocks.

Had a first listen to two acclaimed Meshell Ndegeocello albums—The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams (2007) and Comet, Come to Me (2014). She's a true artist. In her 33 year discography, she's really never had a creative drought. Always some fresh exploration. The well does not runs dry.

An abstract image akin to a multicolored fossil reflected in a mirror serves as the album artwork for 'The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams' (2007).

On the cover of 'Comet, Come To Me' (2014), Meshell Ndegeocello holds her hands with splayed fingers near her face hued in theatrical shades of dark and light gray across her forehead, lightning bolt shapes following her eyebrows, a plank of gray extends to the bridge of her nose, deep purple colors her lips. The mask of her face remains a natural brown.

Jay Harris posted on Facebook: "Somebody said that Keke Palmer is actually Varnell Hil and now I can't unsee it." The image dicts Keke Palmer winking comically with bright orange hair, beneath it is an image of Tommy Davidson playing fictional TV host Varnell Hill in the middle of singing a song.

Willis was behind then-wife Phylicia Rashad's only album, a disco concept record about the life of Josephine Baker called JOSEPHINE SUPERSTAR.

On the cover of 'Josephine Superstar,' Phylicia Allen stands against a white background while wearing a pearl-dripped brassiere with the trademark banana skirt in the style of Josephine Baker, and accessorized high-heels.

Sheila E. has earned her place for sure, but her work too often gets over-attributed to Prince's genius. Sex Cymbal showed off what she was capable of on her own. And I'm STILL impressed. Give the woman a hand. "Sex Cymbal (12" Remix)" www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WAc...

On the cassette single for "Sex Cymbal," Sheila strikes a cross-legged hot girl pose while wearing a slinky little black dress.

First off, the album cover has always had me transfixed. You can tell by my ALT text in the last post: "On the striking, sepia-toned cover of Sheila E.'s Sex Cymbal, Sheila's curly tendrils drip over her sensually exposed shoulders and decolletage as she turns in profile with lips slightly parted."

A special promo edition of the album in a circular tin comes with a custom silkscreened hand cymbal and the CD displayed near it also looks like a cymbal.

I'm obsessed with Sheila E.'s last Warner Bros. album SEX CYMBAL. It came out in April 1991 and was the only one she did without Prince's input, but it's my favorite overall. Her Paisley Park records usually had only a single or two and a bunch of filler. Sex Cymbal was stacked and generous.
