Dr Vanessa Saliba, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA, said: 'Infections can return quickly when childhood vaccine uptake falls; elimination is only possible if all children receive two MMRV doses before school. Older children and adults who missed vaccination must be caught up. The NHS is making vaccination easier, including offering the second MMRV dose earlier at a new 18-month appointment to boost uptake and support elimination goals.'

This is mostly right. mRNA technology great for “personalized cancer vaccines, autoimmune therapies, treatments for rare diseases” as author says. Also unbeatable for fast response to new infections. We must be honest too, though: probably not ideal for flu, malaria and other persistent threats

This Washington Post article is misguided. Fertility rates are falling worldwide and falling far faster in e.g South Korea than in the US. Whatever the policies, women make their own choices. What makes a big difference? Lots of recent immigrants (e.g France) but WaPo can’t say that wapo.st/47wUbTZ
