Found this 2011 mass-market edition by Anchor Books (Random House imprint) in the charity basket at Tesco. Unread and immaculate... Though has dodgy cover formatting and font fuzz going on! I didn't need to buy it as I already have the 1990 paperback edition, but that's suffered multiple reads.

cats

A gunman staggers, riddled with bullets in to his kitchen and falls, dead to the floor. A kitten walks up to him and mews. The mewing becomes a meow, louder and more repetitive, never stopping. The dead man opens his eyes, struggles to the worktop, pours cat food from a tin in to a bowl, places it in front of the cat on the floor and collapses dead again, while the unimpressed cat eats. Final frame, the cat curled up asleep on the back of a smiling corpse.
