I finished the Requiem just a few days ago, and I think it’s a special piece. Working with Craig and Leah on this project, brainstorming over the phone and Zoom, exploring what it means to recast ideas about life, about music, about faith and our reaction to the world around us — what a dream.

Which is why I’m so excited to finally announce here that Conspirare has commissioned Leah Lax and me to write “Requiem in the Light,” a 22-minute work for chorus and strings. They’re pairing it with our Mass in Exile, commissioned by Robert Simpson and my dear friends in Houston Chamber Choir.

Big news! Sixteen years ago Conspirare released an album of works by Tarik O’Regan, and it changed my life. I listened so many times. From that moment to today I’ve immediately listened to everything they and their wonderfully insightful director Craig Johnson released. (1/🧵)
