Check out his more uptempo bass playing on the other Tin Drum track The Art Of Parties too!

My favourite Japan album

Mick was an undervalued genius of the bass (who also played sax lest we forget). Rest in peace. Coincidentally I have just reconnected with my love of Japan and also David Sylvian music, and along the way have discovered incredible music from related projects Rain Tree Crow and Nine Horses

IMHO this Spectre run in Adventure is Jim Aparo’s finest ever cover work (and that includes spectacular stuff on Brave & Bold, that I also love)

A great performance and a glimpse of what might have been with DP mk4. Not perfect but really good and way better than the fare the band managed to serve up by the time they got to Europe the following year. Personal track favourites are the CTTB songs and Wild Dogs from Teaser

Sadly binned all my copies years and years ago. That Steranko Hulk cover is wonderful and lingers in the memory

There is of course one singular reason why players will continue to flock to the PL, aside from its global dominance & profile: 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰. Poor old Jamie is a very good analyst that can’t help himself being One Eyed Jack when it comes to Liverpool related matters

One of the greatest mainstream comics’ company horror covers. Sadly missed it back in the day but without a doubt it’s BW at his finest

Any band that has three drummers is ok with me (guess what instrument I play 😀?!). Seriously, KC is a truly great band/institution that has reinvented itself multiple times over the years, and continues to kick it as a live outfit (a la Deep Purple).

Huge thanks to Simon McBride for graciously accepting this special appearance by Richie. Simon’s enormous talent and musicality is only matched by his awesomeness as a human being. Think the equally magnificent Steve Morse would have done nothing less btw…

I think I had a bad case of ‘grit in the eye’ on hearing this news. Awesome for all those lucky enough to be there. Hope the boys are blessed enough to do it again, and preferably later this year at the Hammy Odeon and Royal Albert Hall London gigs, as I will be at both! 😀🤞🙏

Tommy was also a massive influence over his only DP album Come Taste The Band, which remains a Top 5 DP album for me, whatever the ‘it’s not a real DP album’ naysayers say…

Teaser is unquestionably Tommy’s masterpiece in my opinion. I have loved every track on that album since the day I bought it when first released all those years ago. Funk rock/fusion master, whose musical style came into vogue sadly after his tragic passing.

Fair point. Also about time UEFA used its muscle to see of FIFA’s equally batshit crazy tournament plans, which sadly our own AW has been involved with

markbr1.bsky.social @markbr1.bsky.social · 30/07/2026
Let’s also hope that this emboldens UEFA to start throwing its weight around to protect player welfare, and obscenities like the Club WC are shot into the sun where they belong

Special mention also to Paul Ready. With this show, plus previous appearances in the equally brilliant Motherland and Amandaland (also with Diane Morgan), he has cornered the market for hapless, no functioning male characters of a certain age!

Yes it’s a gem of a show that my entire family binge watched in a single sitting. Diane Morgan is a writing and performing comic genius who is destined for eventual National Treasure status, and Sue Johnston is of course a top drawer comic and serious serial drama actor.

Mick was a founder of Japan, an absolutely brilliant, and criminally underrated band in the UK where all the band members were masters of their craft. Personal favourite is the single Rain Tree Crow album, which is of course the Japan line up under another name

One of Jim Aparo’s greatest covers. As a matter of fact this Spectre run in Adventure Comics in the 70s was brilliant throughout

Deal is reflective of market for elite early 20s talent. Off the back of PL win this is deal we should have done. We have the money and we wanted the player. Fine saying that players are everywhere but who are we going to get that will reboot our attack? Ridiculous OTT bid for Barcola incoming

Absolutely love this era of comics as it’s ’when I came in’ as it were. Sadly many of my mid 60s DCs were binned by an unthinking mum and dad (🙁), including 3 of these WFs. And I really like the covers with the WF logo side by side with those of Batman and Superman. And I am a Go Go Checks believer!

He also kindly signed an Evans snare drum head for me which was part of my kit set up for years. It’s retired now but I will never part with it. Can’t wait to see the great man at the Splat shows in London in November (Inc the Royal Albert Hall)

I met the great man ( & fellow lefty drummer like me 😀) at a drum clinic in Birmingham UK in first half of the noughties. Ian did a a clinic (signature single hand drum roll, fast doubles etc) and reminiscence chat, and then a raffle where I was lucky enough to win one of his Ludwig snare drums

P-Funk was great but IMHO George’s best work was with Funkadelic & the LPs on the Westbound label. The best psychedelic/acid rock albums of all time. Saw the legendary 1978 Parliafunkadelicment Hammy Odeon gig and it was supposedly the longest and latest running DC set ever played there. Stunning

Proper player. Leader. Warrior. Winner. Goal scorer. And very happy to put her foot in as required 😀. Think we have been a little too ‘nice’ at times (honourable exception Ms McCabe!) and Georgia should help rebalance that. Can’t wait to see her in the team
