I’ve seen her 3 times over the years, always as an opening act. Each time SHE CAME TO PLAY ROCK’N’ROLL. And each time, no matter who they came to see, she won the crowd over. She brings it.

Good to see one! In my area they’ve been nearly extirpated by the Cuban tree frog Osteopilus septentrionalis.

‘Tis a shame that the ‘65 Coventry Climax 1.5L flat 16 was stillborn. For ‘66 they could have stacked two to make a H-32 which would have knocked BRM’s H-16 to second place in “hold my beer” ideas. Would have sounded amazing!

Pine flatwoods are an under appreciated habitat IMHO, so many specialized species there, whether it’s elliottii v elliottii or elliottii v densa down at the southern tip of the state (which has some different butterflies). Thanks!

“I’ve got an idea… why don’t we knock our 1.5L V8 flat and stack another on top?” That Clark could win a race with that battleship anchor (not to mention the peaky power curve) hanging on the back of the car is a true testament to his skill.

Only got to see him drive sports cars, so much fun to watch. My first fencing maestro (German Olympic team 1936!) told me stories of seeing his father race at the Nurburgring when her dad took her to the prewar races there. Was a treat to have a first hand account of that era.

“She was great looking, but unstable…” applies here. Ill fated, the Cosworth was not an endurance engine, even if the chassis had worked. IIRC there was talk of having Clark driving in its debut, but he was driving his last race at the Hockenheimring that day, so Spence was called on.

From someone who grew up when F1 cars (and others) wore national colours , no there isn’t. Bonus points for trim being yellow (England), gold (Australia), or silver (Canada).

Maybe my favourite spider, and when I see one I always wonder how many of the masters of camo I missed. Thanks for another great pic of the small and mostly overlooked world.

The great speckled bird! The ancient Egyptians worshiped the ibis because they didn’t have limpkins. Love to watch one with an apple snail. Thanks for sharing a great pic.

While those of us in the US appreciated Ford’s massive GT-40 project, the Chaparrals were tearing up sports car racing here, and looked spaceship unique. And there was the win at the Nurburgring 1000km with P. Hill and Bonnier in ‘66! With an automatic transmission no less.

Damselflies are (I think) under appreciated compared to their more robust dragonfly “cousins”, a bit under the radar but showing their own more subtle beauty and doing their own predator jobs. Thanks for another great capture.

Great pic. Has there been a greater performance at Monza than Clark in ‘67? Go a lap down, unlap himself, overtake the field again to lead, then a fuel issue on the last lap lets Surtees and Hulme go by as he coast to third. Not a win, but “I’m Clark and you’re not.” performance.

Watched the George / Kimi battle lap after lap from the stands at the turn 1 & 2 complex in Montréal. Was real good as it gets racing. He’s something special and now he’s the king of Italy. Hard not to feel for poor George.

English is a funny language. There might be shades of “peering over missing the detail” vs “insignificant to the thought process”, but large numbers of people won’t come to watch that debate! Your point stands.

My favorite mimid! Subtle beauty, shy personality, capable of musical calls as well as being the bird that sounds like a cat. We only get them in the winter and are sad when they leave in the spring. Thanks for posting the pic.

Clark achieved that pole in the previous year’s Lotus 33 with a Coventry Climax bored out to 2L against the 3L cars (well, it was the Nurburgring). Also an interesting race because the field was filled out with F2 cars (again: well, it was the Nurburgring). Rindt was rising.

I was not a big fan (Grace Slick was more to my taste), but saw her once (w/ Full Tilt Boogie Band). Have never seen anything like the way she grabbed the audience and didn’t let go ‘til she was ready. Also jammed with Vanilla Fudge and Johnny Winter. A night to remember. The one and only.
