I watched it, but didn't care for it that much. I really didn't like the new characters.

Only people that worked at DePatie-Freleng and stayed through Marvel like Art Leonardi.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
I mostly liked interviewing the TV guys and the MAD guys.
020
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 18/03/2026
You mean like Hanna-Barbera?
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 11/03/2026
Probably Barbara Donatelli was the most helpful woman for my DePatie-Freleng book. There aren't many women involved in most of my books.

Where are you? I'm usually in Oregon or California. I will be in Connecticut in September.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 22/02/2026
No.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
Kathy Garver is very friendly and will talk about everything. If memory serves, I believe I used a friend's interview with Kathy about Spider-Man.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 10/02/2026
I didn't interview her for the book, but I have met her quite a few times.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 06/02/2026
I did talk to Lisa a bit, but interviewed Art at much greater length.
020
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 05/02/2026
No. Never interviewed her.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 01/02/2026
I tried, but he didn't answer, so I found quotes about Ant and the Aardvark.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 27/01/2026
Many times. I even signed books side by side with her at the San Diego Comic Con in 2010.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 25/01/2026
I like those specials, but don't love them, as they run a bit long. I think a 7 minute short is the perfect length for The Pink Panther, unless you have a really great story.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 24/01/2026
Probably that no one really wanted to make Bailey's Comets.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 21/01/2026
I'm trying to cover all of the companies from the 1950s-80s that haven't been covered by other books.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 20/01/2026
Next one to be published is on Plop!, a comic book. I'm also working on Disney directors and TV Cartoons That Time Forgot.

They were nice and totally loved and respected and missed their father.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 16/01/2026
Typically, I try to cover a person's entire career. Of course, I focus on the book subject at hand. I also try to ask questions that no one else has asked before.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 14/01/2026
I did not.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
I tend to like it when I uncover some information that no one has ever reported before.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 10/01/2026
I interviewed Alison over the phone, not for the book, but for the Underdog DVD set. I met her face to face a couple of years later at an old time radio convention. Both times she was very cordial, gracious and funny. I've never met Stefan.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 09/01/2026
That's very sweet.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 08/01/2026
Not bad. I've had a few issues now and then, but everything seems to get resolved. Others have had major issues, but fortunately, not me.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
That is actually a letter from Tread Covington. All of the founders were very helpful and cordial.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 04/01/2026
I hope so, too. Many do.

Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 03/01/2026
I have no idea. It's difficult for me to answer as they're not real.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 29/12/2025
I like Alice Mitchell from Dennis the Menace, Regina Rich from Richie Rich and Mona Best from The Beatles.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 27/12/2025
It's a great book. I interviewed Greg on my Fun Ideas Podcast about it.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 26/12/2025
I like that book. Very good coverage of the UPA studio.
020
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 25/12/2025
Merry Christmas! And thanks!!
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 20/12/2025
Sorry, no.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 18/12/2025
I spoke with both of them a few times on the phone and via email. I never actually met them face to face. They were nice ladies and wanted to make sure I wasn't spreading misinformation about their father.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 16/12/2025
I don't really want to interview fictional characters. I like the real ones.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 13/12/2025
It's a classic. I destroyed my copy reading it over and over starting at age 13 in 1980.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 12/12/2025
Cool!
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 09/12/2025
Probably Harvey Companion and Dennis the Menace.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 07/12/2025
A little bit.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 02/12/2025
The only time I ever got all gaga like that was when I called Bradley Bolke the first time. He answered with his Chumley voice and it threw me off so hard, I could barely speak.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 30/11/2025
Yes. Buck Biggers, Joe Harris, Chet Stover, Tread Covington, Roman Arambula, Bradley Bolke, Allen Swift, and a few others.
020
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 26/11/2025
I'd have to look at the book again, but I know I interviewed Art Leonardi, Barbara Donatello, Sybil Freleng Bergman, Hope Freleng Shaw, Joe Siracusa, Bob Givens and quite a few others.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 23/11/2025
I would try to avoid asking him the same questions that Dr. Demento did.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 20/11/2025
I would have asked Hawley about the creation of The Pink Panther. No one ever interviewed him professionally in his lifetime. Don Adams, I would ask about Tennessee Tuxedo, and probably go over his entire career.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 19/11/2025
I don't really pay too much attention to it. I still see Disney and Pixar films and some others when I can, but since I don't have to see EVERYTHING like Jerry Beck, I don't. I'd rather watch mainly older cartoons. The only current cartoon I still watch is South Park, but not because it's a cartoon.
000
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 18/11/2025
For TTV, it would have been Don Adams. For Dennis the Menace, Hank Ketcham and Al Wiseman and Fred Toole. For Cracked, Charles Rodriguez. For DePatie-Freleng, Hawley Pratt. For MAD, Harvey Kurtzman and Bill Gaines. I always try to ask questions not everyone else would ask.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 16/11/2025
I met him in the 90s at an art gallery. He was very soft spoken, probably because he was also very old.
010
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 12/11/2025
I don't know. I did meet him once. Probably stuff other people asked him.
000
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 11/11/2025
I forgot that DFE did the Planet of the Apes cartoons. I thought it was Hanna-Barbera.
000
Mark Arnold @markarnold.bsky.social · 07/11/2025
Yes, for every book. I tried, but was not able to interview Ross.

I don't know about shocked, but I am always happy to discover a bit of history that has never been uncovered before in any of my books.
