$40, yet still very underwhelming in a few areas & the franchise's popularity. SRC production & content-wise around launch, while significantly higher than TSR's, I wouldn't say it was $70 high. So I'm hoping this price drop will boost sales & have Sonic Team not sweat at the game's sales targets.

That price drop was really needed for this game. Because aside from Mario Kart (which, even then, World since launch, has offered a permanent $50 option via console bundles), a Kart racing spinoff for modern day full price is gonna be a very hard sell. It's a snippet of a translation (hehe, TRANSlation) in the midpoint of an RPG released in 2004 that got a more accurate official translation 20 years later that you can also play on Switch 2. It's, at most, an interesting thing to look back on that the average child may not pay much attention to.

So, the original version of TTYD isn't out of the question to be re-released. Albeit, the demand for it isn't as high as many other games, GC especially (I mean, give the remake a 60fps upgrade on Switch 2 & I think you're golden). If the original won't make it to the service, then... ok, I guess.

Along with the fact that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team did make it on the service despite that game & Blue Rescue Team getting a remake. Meaning that Nintendo doesn't have the mindset where a remake makes the original game obsolete to re-release. (Plus, BRT will likely be on DS NSO soon.)

I do wonder if Nintendo is going to re-release the original version of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on NSO. Knowing that Mario vs. Donkey Kong did get a remake in 2024 like that game, yet the GBA original did get re-released on NSO slightly over 2 years later for the Mario Day announcement.

In conclusion. Yeah, SMM3 has to be the big Mario release of 2027 aside from the first Switch 2 exclusive Mario Party. It's been over 6 years since the last major update of SMM2. Many of the players & creators of that game had long made the most out of that game & have grown fatigued & wanting more.
