There is no justice in a company like Shell, that makes a profit at the expense of so many deaths and displaced people in Nepal and Tibet and that we let them continue with their business. That’s why visiting to Shell was the only right thing to do for Marietje Bell. What would justice be for you?

And Shell—last week, Shell made a profit of 765 million euros and was responsible for 21.2 megatons of CO2. That's 70 times as much as the entire population of Nepals in a single week.

The science is clear: by continuing to use fossil fuels, the climate is changing faster and faster. As a result, global temperatures are rising, including in the Himalayas. This is destabilizing the glaciers, causing pieces to break off with increasing frequency.

This after the terrible climate disaster in Nepal and Tibet, where a large section of a glacier broke off in the Himalayas. This caused a flood wave up to 50 meters high. So far, at least 616 people have died, with many hundreds more still missing. And a huge impact on the local people’s livelihoods

If you believe their website, they have lofty words about honesty, integrity, respect for people. But Shell isn’t such a great company, because it came to light this week that even though Shell knew there were countless oil spills in the Niger Delta, they simply continued pumping oil in this region.

Shell’s goal is to make its investors even richer and to be the most powerful player in the oil sector. Recently, they admitted that achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050 is no longer that important. As a result, Shell continues to destroy our planet, and the climate crisis only gets worse.

At a time when 116 million soccer fields’ worth of nature is burned down only in 2026, 25,000 people died from extreme heat in 2025, and more and more people no longer know how to pay their bills due to rising oil prices, Shell made a profit of 4.8 billion euros in the first quarter of 2026.

Last night we visited TotalEnergies Rietgraaf. Do you remember last week’s extreme heatwave? The 39 degrees. The 480 extra people who died because of the heat. According to the CEO Patrick, we just have to get used to this extreme heat. We implore you: boycott TotalEnergies!🔥

While McDonald’s continues to feed and support the IOF, the Palestinians are being starved again. For over two years, hardly any food trucks were allowed in; since the so-called ceasefire, a few more have been permitted, but in recent weeks, Israel has once again restricted the supply.

McDonald's creates a living hell for thousands of chickens; within 42 days, they are fattened up at the expense of their health. Chickens live in cages that are far too small, with almost no room to move. All so that McDonald’s can make as much profit as possible off your chicken nuggets.

Zara makes their clothes at the expense of people, in their factories there is modern slavery and child labour. Turkish factory workers sewed cries for help into clothing: "I make these clothes for you, but I am not paid for it." Zara doesn't care about their employees, only about money.

Zara loves you for buying more clothes, clothing of low quality so you will come back soon for more clothes. Zara one of the biggest fast fashion brands contributes greatly to the 8-10% CO2 emissions of the fashion industry. With Zara there will be no more world where you can show your clothes!

In addition, the cheapness of the clothes comes at the expense of human rights. H&M exploits people by forcing them to work overtime in unsafe conditions, child labor, sexual assault and intimidation. They also abuse and kill animals for leather, wool, down, and the hair of exotic animals.

JN Marietje Bell @marietjebell.bsky.social · 24/12/2025
Because the H&M is guilty of multiple crimes. Their business model is based on fast fashion, releasing as many collections of the lowest quality so people keep buying. This results in 1.2 billion tons of CO2 emission, 93 billion cubic meters of water consumed and accounts for 35% of microplastics.

And if that's not enough reason not to buy new shoes from JD Sports and SNIPES, they also don't care much about animal rights. Leather, wool, sheepskins, down, and skins from exotic animals are all used for your new shoes.

To sell their clothes as cheap as possible, the production means many human rights violations. The workers work extremely long hours, under dangerous conditions, and are often paid very little, a.k.a. modern slavery... In China, it is mainly the Uyghurs who make the clothes under forced labor.

JN Marietje Bell @marietjebell.bsky.social · 30/11/2025
Every year, people buy an average of 47 new items of clothing. This accounts for 8-10% of total CO2 emissions, and 10,000 liters of water are needed to produce 1 kilogram of clothing. Whereby the average person throws away 17.7 kg of clothing every year.

This time, we visited JD Sports and SNIPES during Black Friday Weekend because they mainly sell Nike and Adidas. Both Nike and Adidas encourage the fast fashion industry, an industry that wants people to buy more and more and more clothes without giving a damn about our planet.

In addition, the human rights of local people in their new projects in Suriname, Uganda, and Mozambique, are of little interest to them. Destruction of local ecosystems, people being evicted from their homes, and armed conflicts. As long as Total profits from it, they don't care about human rights.

They use leather and wool in their products, but have no documentation about where this comes from or how the animals are treated. All they care about is making money. This comes at great expanse of the environment, humans and other animals.

The clothing industry is responsible for 8-10% of all emissions. This is more than boats and planes combined! Primark’s clothing is made in factories in Bangladesh, where people work in dangerous conditions for less than a minimum wage.

Yesterday we decorated the Primark in Arnhem Primark is a big fast fashion company that produces large quantities of clothing of terrible quality. They change their collection constantly to stimulate customers to keep on buying. Marietje Bell wants less quantity and more quality!
